I had one and my son has had his for about six years now, mine was a little problematic (noisy variator) my son's has been perfect. If you're buying make sure it's got a full history, timing belt interval is 36k or every 4 years not the 72 originally quoted. The diesels are the pick for performance and economy, the GTA is great but gutsy. Head over to http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/
good forum, friendly and very knowledgeable.

I had a ‘sud back in the ’80s, probably the best handling standard car I’ve ever driven, I got it at about a year old and it failed its first MOT on rust.

Slightly more relevantly my OH’s last two cars have been Alfas, 145 & GTV, both 2l TS engines. Good engines and dynamics but still have build quality and rust prevention niggles but I suppose they are Alfas and not Audis

I'm not good with heartaches either, which is one of the reasons I'm going to sell my Mazda MX5, too much handling trouble in the winter.

^^^ Get some winter tyres on that MX5 and it'll be fine!

The GTA version was classed as the fastest hatch back on the road a few years ago. 250bhp of raw Italian reliability!

    Fixed that for you.

get the 1.9 jtdm more power than a 2.0 petrol version its got more torque.

service wise its better to get one thats has FASH done to the intervals and keep it going that way.

i dont like the knotchy gearstick, and heared the sprung loaded linkage can go quite often in them.

inside is pretty dark due to dark interior and factory rear window tints (the one iv test driven was anyway).

best keep clear of the 1.6 my dads kia ceed is far more better than that.
