Did 130000 mile in my old 156, never let me down. Just bought a 05 147 1.6 TS Lusso for £2800 with 34000 miles. Most who knock them have never had one.0

The GTA version was classed as the fastest hatch back on the road a few years ago. 250bhp of raw Italian power!PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

My son-in-law had a 147 and it gave him no end of trouble (mainly electrical faults) but he loved the car.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

They are a bit of a marmite car.
They have their faults, mainly electrical, but they have character.
Most people will.own an Alfa at some point. It may break, it may not, but they are great when they are running.
Take the usual steps, full history, few owners, nice set of matched premium tyres all indicate a car worth buying.
Avoid the autos, i am sure it is the automated manual system and likely to be a nightmare.
It has to have leather and a rorty petrol lump.
I would also do as mentioned and update your recovery cover. Maybe the new AA mechanical.breakdown repair cover.0 -
I was looking at these in the past and a friend used to work at an Alfa dealership. Basically he said go for the diesel version, as you are likely to have less problems than with the petrol.
Most Alfa's can be tempremental and have problems, but to be fair any car can have problems, it is just the luck of the draw.
They are quite cheap for what you can buy.0 -
Brave choice. You'll get on first name terms with the local mechanic, but its heck of a lot more fun that the usual stuff at that price.
Always wanted a 3.2 v6 GTV myself. After my Toyota, I'm bored of reliable cars now0 -
Maybe it's like any car, you can be lucky or unlucky.
I used to have a Puma & am looking at something similar with a bit of omphf & a car which is fun to drive.0
