Over 60 and needing insurance..

I know that I should have taken life insurance out when younger but, I just never got around to it
Now, both hubby and I are over 60 and feel we should provide at least enough to bury us should sickness / accident pop us off..
Question..
what do we need to look for insurance/assurance ??? I've tried reading the ins and outs of different ins/!!! and can't make head nor tale of it
We would like a policy that gives us £8000 on death. Nothing else.
Neither of us have any history of serious illness, both non smokers.
Can someone point me in the right direction please ?

Dont mean to be rude (I'm early sixties myself so no offence intended) insurance to cover you for that amount will cost you a fortune at your age x 2
If you really need a funeral fund, you would be better saving that amount in a separate account or get a funeral plan sorted with an undertaker or someone.
I'm sure other folk will be along to advise further.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I just made a guess at £8000 because I don't have the faintest idea just how much funerals are (?)
Bog standard basic is all we need. Nothing fancy, tbh, they can bury me in the back garden if they so wish (if that's lawful......another ?? )

I don't have an life insurance apart from the mortgage one.. I have enough in savings to bury me or if OH goes before me the house can pay the bill... so I see no need..
I would plump for saving the money yourselves too#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Two and a half thousand each should do it.
We have threads on here who havent saved for a funeral, done absolutely nothing at all and left an absolutely total
mess for their children so try not to, Im sure you wouln't.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

That plan only works if you and Hubby depart together!
The Which? website has a bit of information about funeral plans which is visible to non-subscribers.

Sadly, I lost my brother 4 years ago and had to arrange his funeral.
Smallish, and laid on a spread afterwards in his local. All in all, came to about £2000. (This didn't include any headstone etc)0 -
Co-op do pre-paid funeral plans - I picked up a leaflet at their shop yesterday.
There are various ways to pay as well including monthly.
Hope that helps - I am seriously considering do it for me but I want a 'GREEN' funeral, so need to check if they do that0
