CPU fan speed - should I be worried?

I've got MSI core centre which tells me the speed and temperature of the CPU etc. Since yesterday it's been popping up to tell me the CPU fan speed is 800-900rpm. Is this very slow? What should it be?
I cleaned out the inside including all the fans about a month ago, and I've just had another look inside to make sure there's nothing blocking it. Time for a new fan? Should I replace this urgently today? I mean, would it be a bad idea to carry on using my pc for the next few days with this fan running so slowly?
Any advice appreciated, thanks

It does seem a little slowm, but as long as the system isn't instable there's no real reason to worry about the temperatures.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0

It is not necessarily the speed of the fan that you should be concerned about. What is the CPU temperature and is it within manufacturers limits? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Temperature is the most important item to look at and compare it to the manufacters limits :-
take my Core2Duo E6600 for example
is have a manufacter limit of around 60c
For casual internet browsing it's around 30c and the fan is around 900rpm
underload it goes upto 42c and the fan speeds up to 1300rpm
if your temporature is low then the fan is doing it's job and slowing down to make your pc quieter0 -
The temp is 37-42 C, but I've only been surfing. Will keep an eye on it when I use something a bit more demanding like the dvd burner.
Thanks for all your replies0 -
Download Prime 95 and put your pc under a torture test at 100% load. Then check the tempsformerly mrmilo690
