    if dental hygiene isnt your thing thats a great idea...

    I find that washing with a tumbler full of cold water and an old piece of cloth far cheaper than all that faffing about with baths and showers..........:rolleyes:

    Unfortunately you missed by sense of humour on that one :rolleyes:

    I popped into boots today, and they have the Oral B 7000 FOR £28.32 at the moment. They are a steal at this price - get one

    :beer:

    I bought the 8500 model in superdrug today for a few pence under £38 - I fell for the sales stuff suggesting this is half normal price - is it as good as the 7000 and does it have your recommendation also?

    Yes it is a good brush, but I don't personally believe that it offers anything above the 7000 particularily. We have both at home (testers) and I still use my 7000! Just as a quick tip, if there are 2 of you who need to use the electric brush, or perhaps parents and kids, and you could do with 2 handles, look for the 7850 - same as 7000, but 2 handles, 2 standard heads, 2 extra soft heads, and 2 interspace heads, but only one charger. That being said, if you get the 7000 for £28, it is still cheaper to buy 2 of them!

    I don't recommend models below the 7000 as they don't in my experience have enough power.

  • For replacement heads, I always buy off ebay - the last time I bought some I got 12 (flexiheads) for about £8.
  • My other half is the manager of a dental practice and had been a dental nurse for the previous 10 years.
    I met her a year ago and since then I have been using a sonicare. I had always used a manual brush before that and I must say how much cleaner my teeth feel now.
    All the staff where she works use a sonicare including the dentists!

    I always buy mine off ebay. If you do a search on HX7002 you will find some and save a few quid.

    It all helps....
  • this is now back up to £57.27.... just when i'd finally made my mind up to go for it!! :(

    is there any chance it would go back to £35.99?

    It's out of stock at Amazon - that's why it's now showing supplied by a Marketplace seller. If it comes back in to stock it MIGHT be £35.99, but my guess is it was a pricing error in the first place.

    Boots have them for £49.99

    Currys want £100 for them !!!!!

    I photocopied the leaflet just in case I didnt get my free gift, so this is what you need to write down:

    The choice of gift: either Ladyshave, Mens Shaver, 4 in 1 grooming kit or hairdryer

    * Toothbrush model code: i.e HX7351 (can be any Sonicare Elite, but not Sonicare Advance)

    * Name:

    * Full Address:

    Telephone no:

    Email address:

    * Name of dental professional:

    * Name and location of dental practice:

    (* these sections must be completed)

    Please tick if you do not wish to receive further information by mail from Philips: (tick box)

    We would like to contact you in the future about exciting new products. Please tick here if you do not want to be contacted by Philips by telephone (tick box) or by email (tick box)

    Then send with till receipt to: Sonicare Christmas Gift Offer, PO BOX 64, Hadleigh, IP7 6WF. Should arrive within 28 days. Good luck!

    Grabbed a leaflet from my local dentist today and noticed it said (in the small print) you need to send an "official completed application form" along with the receipt. I'll leave the decision up to you whether a hand written version will do.
