Hi

I sent six of my dads old mobile phones away about three weeks ago now to CEX as they came up with the highest price. I have not heard anything back from the company and have tried emailing several times. Is there anything I can do? Does someone have a contact number for them. I used this site to locate the best price for old mobiles and because CEX was used by this site I just assumed it would be safe. Any help would be appreciated

Hi Thanks for the numbers the first one does not work and the second is a automated message advising you to email with no alternative option.

I have tried emailing three times.....any other suggestions?

these are the only numbers that can be found, it may not help but is there anyway you could pop into your local store, or write to their head office in Watford?

I dont know how to alert money saving expert. It seems that this site is very difficult to contact only and I think it is wrong that they are encouraging a company that is not acting as they should. I have tonight written letter to company which I will post tom. I will try the closest store to me at somepoint but it is not very close (50miles away).

Just so disappointed as I convinced my dad to sell these so he could get some money and all I have done is gone and lost them. :(

If you have proof of delivery you can take legal steps to recover the money. If you have proof of posting you can claim up to £42 from Royal Mail - but you would need (or they would) written confirmation from CEX that they haven't received the phones.

CEX stopped people contacting them by phone some time back. I use them not infrequently and rarely have problems; the email address usually works though it's been a while since I had occasion to use it.

Before sending any phone to any dealer you should 1) decide whether the value of the phone means it's worth paying for special delivery; 2) if you use recorded delivery you can at least make a claim against Royal mail (but only up to £42) if they can't confirm delivery but wouldn't need the dealer to confirm non-receipt OR sue the dealer if Royal Mail confirms delivery and the dealer fails to respond.

If you have no proof of posting or receipt you can still claim from Royal Mail, but will need confirmation of non-receipt from the dealer. A Certificate of Posting (which is what I always use) is free and shows it was despatched via Royal Mail, which is worthwhile. In fact, you don't need any proof of posting to make a claim for non-delivery but Royal Mail is as bad as the dealers so without any proof methinks you are unlikely to see much recompense.

I have made a successful claim from Royal mail using the Certificate of Posting and email confirmation that the dealer (indeed, it was CEX!) of non-receipt. Royal Mail were going to write to the dealer but I forced payment because the email confirmed non-receipt. Without that and no response from CEX to royal Mail I doubt I'd have seen anything back.
