Guide price, full central heating sys for 1 bed flat?

Hello,
I am in the process of buying a 1-bed flat in Edinburgh which currently has electric storage heaters. I want to replace this with a combi boiler based central heating and hot water system.
I will need 6 radiators and the flat is already serviced with gas, it has a gas cooking hob, a gas fire and a connection point for another gas fire. I will also want the existing gas fires and connection points removed as part of the work.
I want a decent boiler as I have spent many years living in rented flats where the boilers have infuriated me, the main problem being their insensitivity to the hot water tap being on and/or the flow meter going completely. From reading around I'm thinking Valient and Worcester seem to be good, opinions on this are also welcome.
What should I expect the rough cost to be based on these requirements?
As a second question, it is worth the effort of doing any of the work myself? I'm fairly sure I could mount the radiators, design the heating circuit, and do much of the pipework myself it it was worth my time. Obviously I wouldn't touch the boiler or gas. Would this save me enough money to be worth it, and would any installer touch such a system part-installed by the customer? Where is most of the cost of the quote usually going?
Cheers everyone!
