BT Mobile - changing to a lower tariff
I took out a BTM 150 Plus promotion with a SE T610 in September last year. This was a cracking rental-cashback deal, but I do not now require all the minutes it provides and I wish to reduce outgoings if possible. The promotional material from CPW states:
Has any member got a copy of the full T&Cs that applied to this offer, and is specific mention made of a twelve-month lockin? the general T&Cs appear to state that plans may be changed after six.
I called BTM today and was told that as this was a promotional offer I was locked into the bundle for 12 full months. They were unable to refer me to the relevant clause in the T&Cs, though there is a clause on those published at their website applying to some promotions after the date of this one.The tariff and additional bundle options selected may not be changed within the first six months from connection

They tried this on with me!
Ask to speak to a manager as the tariff definitely allowed this change (it's shown on the ts+cs that they sent with the phone) - they eventually agreed.
You will save £5/month by downgrading to the 30 minutes/month tariff.0 -
Just received the following from BTM following a submission via their website:Thankyou for bringing this matter to our attention.
I am sorry to hear about the problems you have been having with our service. You are right, you should have been able to change your tariff commitment, it explicitly states in our database (OWL) relation to your tariff, "Customers have to commit to BT Mobile 150+ for a MINIMUM of six months ...(A)fter six months customers ARE ABLE to cease the inclusive minutes/text messages, stay on them, or re-commit to another inclusive minute plan" (my emphasis).
Calls us again on 150 (or 08000 322111 if you are calling from a landline) and ask for the change in your tariff to be applied and if anyone tells you you can't change your tariff, refer them to the notes in your customer account or our own database.
Thank you for contacting BT.
Yours sincerely,
