Been asked many times and it is a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question. So many factors affect consumption - insulation, pattern of use(work all day or in house). efficiency of boiler etc
Scotland is colder, bungalows use more oil than comparable houses.
Say 2,500 litres a year? with oil around 55p to 60p a litre - £1,500 pa???0 -
thats fine, we jsut wanted a rough estimate, thank you.0

A small one is about 500 litres. And most suppliers have a minimum order of 500 litres.
My tank is 2500 litres and lasts at least a year.
Oil currently costs around 55 pence per litre.
If you are renting, you MUST agree with the landlord in writing:
1) how much is in the tank when you move in
2) that when you move OUT you will pay him or he will pay you if the tank is emptier or fuller than at the start
otherwise you will have arguements over your deposit when you leave.0 -
Oh god very true, I will tell her right now as she going to view it today. TY !0

I think smallest is about 1000 l or 1200 l. That way you can fit 500 l into it without it having to be empty. Oil suppliers can take a week or 2 to make a delivery.
You're right that suppliers have a 500 l minimum order (I think that might be legal requirement). But if they can only get in 400 l that's all you pay for (they aren't happy then though).
You can find the rough price of oil online (e.g. boilerjuice), although by ringing around you could beat that.0 -

Agreed. Boilerjuice is useful for a quick "benchmark" price, but personally I always ring around the local companies, they almost always beat the boilerjuice price. The difference in price from different companies is amazing - there's sometimes a 10p per litre difference, which when you're looking at buying 1000 litres is a substantial amount.0 -
She decided not to take it. Thanks for all help0
