Student Finance, away from home question - anyone?

I didn't realise there are different rates to living at home from living away. When I went to University in 2005 I was awarded the 'maximum'. I would assume the maximum is the 'maximum' hence its definition - so they wouldn't raise it just because I lived elsewhere.
But if that's the case, then, to be very honest, probably. She's money obsessed so it seems very plausible.
But if that's what she wants to do, then who is anyone to stop her.
Her business isn't mine.Oldernotwiser wrote: »I wonder whether your friend is trying to get the living away from home rate when s/he's actually still living with parents?I have worked at HSBC Bank in various departments both customer facing and process-related for six years. ONW is she BTW.
There is no address evidence required.
But ONWs post is perfectly acceptable, as she is right, no-ones where they are going to live, especially have an address - so how would they provide any evidence until they've started? They wouldn't be able to. And there would be outrage if students didn't get their loans until a month after they've started when they can prove where they are living.
I did find the question a little odd given your friend has already applied. They would have asked her by now if they needed proof of address ha.
I asked for a reason.
On another forum, someone was asked to produce a letter of residency from his landlord before the University would enrol him. Likewise, SLC wouldn't pay him until he was confirmed.
Nevertheless, I will iterate that I asked about this type of evidence, not about whether the address needed to be entered at application - to which I thought I made rather clear by saying that I input the address as I was requested.
I did not make a song and dance about it, all I said, is that it was simply unhelpful. I presume this is looked at negatively, right? Obviously, so, with these sort of comments. The comment saying it didn't really answer the question was put so that someone else would kindly answer the question without others assuming it had been answered.
Seems like you lot can't take criticism as its weakest.
Not everyone is going to be 'helpful'. Some just mis-read, or don't read.I have worked at HSBC Bank in various departments both customer facing and process-related for six years. However, any advice given is my own.0 -
ok the answer is no they won't
they didn't for my son who was in the same situation as your friend
you just write to them when you have the term time address - you're rather assuming that the payment will co-incide with the start of term - this isn't always so - your friend may have plenty of time to notify them of her term time address
btw- Taiko is an EXTREMELY helpful person on this forum who goes out of their way to give personal help to those who need it
and ONW is always helpful too - this board does not normally de-generate into the silliness of the other boards - so please don't make assumptions about posters.
Thankyou for your answer. That's all I wanted.
I did not for one second make any unpleasant remark about Taiko or ONW. I simply said that the comment didn't answer the question! Give me a break, how else am I going to kindly say that I still need the question answering? Just not bother saying anything for the sake of not being able to say "you didn't answer my question".
Can't people understand what I'm trying to say.
All I said was it didn't answer the question. It was merely a statement and nothing against the poser. Tell me how I could have put it across in a way that wouldn't merit these sort of replies? You are all talking as if I have disrespected! This forum is getting unbelievable, to be honest.I have worked at HSBC Bank in various departments both customer facing and process-related for six years. However, any advice given is my own.0 -

ETA. And, by the way, I am not a poser! lol
"It was merely a statement and nothing against the poser. "
Love it. The old' English typos.
As for posing, I'd have to take your word for it :rotfl:I have worked at HSBC Bank in various departments both customer facing and process-related for six years. However, any advice given is my own.0 -

But did you honestly expect it to make any sense?:rotfl:If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
If you think I'm that bothered about writing proper standard English and making complete sense, then think again. You should be greatful I don't come on here writing in text talk which would probably miff you off a little, I have better things to do than write the 'perfect' post. As long as people can understand me, DILLIGAF?
Oh wait, you probably can't understand me at all.I have worked at HSBC Bank in various departments both customer facing and process-related for six years. However, any advice given is my own.0 -
I've written my final post in the other thread.
To sum it up, I'd say some of you are pretty much a bunch of 'bullies'. Defend yourself or disagree (or don't!) all you want, you can have your opinions, I'll stick with mine as you do yours.
