Well, that's good for you. Personally, I'd feel like I was getting massively poorer value for money (as in the OP) and would probably not bother at all. You pay for the beer, not the vessel it's in...yes, there are cleaning costs associated with doing 2xhalf glasses instead of 1xpint, but as it was the pub's fault, I wouldn't expect to pay more.
If I was playing snooker, it would be even worse - I need at least 3 pints before I hit my "sweet spot", so their lack of pint glasses would cost me an extra £4.80 before I could start playing well - and that's enough for (at your rate) 12 hours more playtime!0 -
And again you have missed the point I was making, IF that was the normal price then I would pay it (if I drank larger that often, i don't) if I really wanted it, if I didn't then I would have something else, which I can do provided they still wanted to serve me, they don't actually have to. Like I said, cinemas, pubs, clubs, cafes and all other businesses can charge what they want for their product and if they are unable to provide it they can offer an alternative (at the same rate, at a reduced rate or even an increased rate) it is then down to you if you wish to accept, if so great, if not they don't make any money from you. It really is that simple0

Yeah, I wouldn't. I don't care if it's legal or not, I view it as loss of a bargain. I appreciate (as has been repeated on this thread) that they have a legal right to charge me whatever they want *for* whatever they want, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
I appreciate that my thread was titled to ask about the legality of it, but I think that's been done to death. On a broader moral point, I don't believe it's right to try and charge people the same for providing less. It's just not how I do business.0 -
I work at a cinema (thankfully not vue) and although it seems a bit daft that they wanted to charge you for the large deal when you would have been getting a regular drink and a large hotdog it would have more than likely been a cheaper deal for you. I know at my cinema for a large hotdog and large drink it's £7.80...but to buy a large hot dog and regular drink it's £8.10. However it's not right that they wanted to charge the large deal price as if they were so bothered about their stock being accounted for then they would have to put the right size through on the till....
As relic said...we also can't give cups away as we need to account for them...same with bags for popcorn...if customers want to split it up then they have to use the bags from the pick and mix.0 -

What if a paper cups get damaged, or a mistake is made with the order? How much does it cost for one of these cups? Are they so valuable that someone might lose their job if one was missing? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

I remember watching the show where Heston was trying to make over the food at Cineworld. He got told off in his trial for tearing some of the paper bags for the popcorn. The depressing reason being that the paper bag does, in fact, cost more than all of the popcorn it contains...0 -

That doesn't surprise me in the least. As I said earlier in the thread, I can buy a packet popping corn, from the supermarket, for a few pennies and make fifteen pounds worth of popcorn. But does that mean the cups are worth more than the drinks as well? :eek:The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

My hubby is an engineer for the company who has the Vue contract for their post mix drinks etc, and I actually asked him this when we watched the show with Heston Blumenthal. Apparently, the drinks DO cost more than the cups, but your £3 drink does only costs Vue about 45p. He did tell me, however, that the nachos you see all ready and waiting in their little cardboard container are actually WEIGHED out back! The staff are nervous wrecks about their stock, and the 12 year old managers on minimum wage are ALL like the spotty, self important one featured in that programme.0
