Great for catching out the likes of Adobe when they sell your details on
I actually suspect that addresses like these get vetted, in that they don't get sold on for precisely the reason above.
Works for me as well, so far I've only had spam (actually specifically phishing scams) to specific addresses for rgmedia (rgml.co.uk) and aria.co.uk. In both cases I've contacted the companies explaining that they were the only ones with that particular email address and since I never give out the same email address to different companies then the scammers/spammers must have obtained the address from them. I pointed out that either they gave my email address out illegally or they have a major data leakage problems with their computers. Rgmedia didn't even respond to me. Aria said they'd look into it but nothing happened and I still occasionally got phishing email to my aria address but I've since blocked that address. It's very informative tracking your email like that, I used to quite like Aria and thought they were a respectful company. Whereas I always see people claiming that ebay sell your email address to everyone, yet I've never had a single spam email (completely unfiltered) to my specific ebay address."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

My business email addresses are well protected by the company filters while all my private ones are on yahoo and gmail both of whom have excellent spam filters .. I get hundreds of spam emails a day but all but a few end up in the 'spam' directory.
If I am in a particularly bad mood I will pick one at random and send the most hateful racially, religiously, sexually, perverted email that my mind allows me to think up ... it is a good form of stress release .. especially when one dumba$$ actually replied to tell me they were going to report me
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
Have a bizzare email name works wonders, stick a few number in there for good measure too.Nothing to see here, move along.0

The problem with allowing spam to reach you in the first place is that it is counted as part of your "traffic". if you have "capped bandwidth" then it counts towards that limit.
The problem with replying to spam is that the "From" address invariably belongs to some innocent party and not to the actual sender of the spam.0
