Can I use a Freeview HD receiver and a Sky + box?

Wonder if anyone can help?I've noticed that Tesco currently have a deal for a Freeview HD box for £30. Im currently with Sky but only have the SD Sky + box and am not willing to pay sky £10+ pm for the HD services. Having seen the deal for the box in Tesco was wondering is there any reason why I cannot connect the Freeview HD box to my TV as well as my Sky + box? The TV has 2 HDMI connections, there is still a TV ariel connection into my house (although unused since the switchover) and Ive looked online and found that I can reviece Freeview HD in my area. Any help on if this is possible would be great.

There should be no problem with what you propose.

Just check your aerial is capable of receiving a decent freeview picture with your TV before buying the Freeview HD box.

You might want to see if Sky have any free HD box offers on ATM, although you may need to spend £120 on the HD sub to qualify.

just plug it in and off you go. Neither is restricting the other from receiving a signal and they'll be using different inputs
  • Thanks for the quick response. Ive got a built in Freeview TV which seems to pick up most freeview channels at the moment so hopefull that it will be able to pick up the HD channels as well. If not would anyone know how much it would cost to upgrade the arial?

I would check you are receiving ALL the channels before buying the box, but cost of a new aerial (London prices) £140-175-240 ish terrace-semi-detached.
