Hi,
Just wanted to say that I thought this a good phrase for describing overchargeing on P&P.
Never heard it before - Thats all.
Anyone got any other Great Phrases?

ASK for a reduction in postage if you consider it too high - even if the transaction has been completed although you have to be prepared to pay the original cost if they say no. 1 item I bought recently had a postage cost of £10. Bought it for £5 and asked for the postage to be reduced if possible - i.e second class or parcel post - seller reduced the postage to £5. Great transaction - positive feedback all round - she's happy, i'm happy - the only person to suffer if you want to call it that is Royal Mail. Also some are prepared NOT to send recorded or special delivery as long as you accept liability if it doesnt arrive - I always ask for proof of posting - covers you up to £25 anyway provided the item fills all the requirements of Royal Mail's rules.
ASK - you lose nothing by doing so and could save lots - just be nice when you do so!!!!!0 -
Im always very happy to offer cheaper postage to my buyers and most of the time i usually offer the cheapest i can to keep the postage costs down. If the item is of any value then i will sent it recorded which adds a bit to the cost though.0

I paid £2 for something that went through as a second class stamp! I would not have minded so much if it had gone 1st class!!!

it depends on what the seller specified the postage as really. I usually put "1st class" or "1st class recorded", so if i charged someone 2quid and sent it 2nd class then that would be cheeky. If the seller just puts "sellers standard fee £2" then you are really accepting that is what it is.0 -
Thats the same with me. I charge my buyers as little as possible...biblejohn wrote:Im always very happy to offer cheaper postage to my buyers and most of the time i usually offer the cheapest i can to keep the postage costs down. I think it's important to point out that ebay don't charge fees for postage - thereaby by charging extra for postage and less for the actual item - both parties benefit and ebay lose out!
I don't understand why people get so upset about high postage because at the end of the day you calculate the TOTAL price when deciding to bid on something not just the item price. Therefore if postage makes it more than you are willing to pay then simply don't bid!
It's the same for any item you buy on the net - some places offer free delivery and some charge various rates - it's just marketing not a con!
I've even read about some people complaining about postage when they have got an item much cheaper than similar items normally go for. This is CRAZY - if you've bought a bargain then why moan!
Ebay & paypal charge excessive fees and make LOADS of money - is it not better to get together to reduce this?? I thought that's what this site is all about 'screwing big companies'0 -

thats waht it said...... it was mailed with a 2nd class stamp.
If it had got a 1st class stamp I would not have mentioned it but the fact it was 2nd class niggled me!0 -

YES i totally agree - did this with my o2 sims - made the money on the postage - rather than offer free p & p for ebay to pocket the fees.0
