Orange Broadband and Xbox Live/Playstation Network

Since April/May 2011 any Orange broaband users cannot connect to other Orange broadband users via Xbox Live or PSN. This affects every Orange broadband user. That means I cannot play games with my mate who is on Orange, or infact anyone else who is on Orange. Gaming is one of the primary reasons I have a broadband connection.
I have reported it to Orange who at first denied it, however they say they are now looking into it. Weeks have passed and it is impossible to get an update.
Do you think I have grounds for cancelling my contract (I still have 14 months left) as I am fed up with paying a monthly fee for a reduced service?

You have no grounds to cancel.
Orange are supplying you with Broadband, that's all they need to do. Unfortunately, they block P2P applications to prevent piracy. As Xbox and PSN are P2P services they get blocked by Orange.
The only way is to pay to get out of your contract and go with another ISP.0 -
Thanks, that's interesting. Surely they should have stated that they block p2p services when I signed up though? Also xbox live and psn was working and then suddendly it stopped working, so they have changed something on their end.
I can connect to other non Orange users via xbox live so effectively they are punishing their own users for signing up to Orange.0 -
Traffic Shaping/Management will all be in their Terms and Conditions.
Have a Goodle search on Orange Broadband and Xbox Live/PSN... there's lots of people having issues.0 -
My son using his XBox Live through Orange (we have been with them for years) and not had any problems, just asked him. He did say try switching off your router for a few minutes then switch it back on again.0

Hi. It is definitely not a router/port forwarding issue. If your son tried to connect to chat/play a game/join a party with one of his friends who are also on Orange it wouldn't work.0

Hi, i'm another orange broadband user having exactly the same problem as you. I'm currently on day 3 awaiting call back from level 4 technical support which is apparently the highest level. I have been told that if they are unable to resolve the issue I can move to another ISP at no cost.
the best way to get to this level is to go to the cancellations department and they seem to shift you up higher.
there is also a facebook group called orange internet affecting gamers if you'd like to join us.0
