Baths in alcoves, like you are suggesteing are a nightmare in terms of maintenance, especially if the taps need changing etc.
You make a little hatch through the wall from the adjacent room. When access is not required it is a useful recessed shelving area for books or toys.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
