How far away is the closet UMTS mast and who owns it? How far away is the Orange GSM mast?

If there is no 3G signal in the area, it doesn't matter if it's a dongle or a MiFi. It would just be a horrendous waste of time and money. A unlocked USB modem cost £14. An unlocked MIFI maybe £70.

So you're saying just go for the USB - and if it works its as likely to work as the MiFi? Orange is the nearest mast - so our only chance!

If there is no UMTS coverage, whatever you buy is likely to be a huge disappointment.
    You didn't answer my question.
