I am having the screaming ad-dabs here......
I have just finished the EON FixOnline 8 plan and was paying £68 a month dual fuel DD.
I have looked at a price comparison site and the cheapest they are coming up with is £113 monthly payment!!
I can't afford this, surely I must have done something wrong? I added up my years usage of gas and electric separately in pounds and put them in, rather than amounts used as it was SO confusing trying to work it out that way.
EON have put me automatically onto the EnergyOnline which was third on the list on the comparison site, so not a good one to stay on.
Sorry if these are all obvious and stupid questions. Thanks for reading.

That's your problem. You really need to put your usage figures in to get an accurate quote from the comparison sites.0 -
I'll have another go at it....... thank you. Any tips?0
-
It's easy enough once you have the figures from your current supplier. If you have an online account you can get them from there, otherwise just ring them and ask for the last year's usage of gas and electricity in kwh (kilowatt hours).
Then just put these figures into the comparison site and choose the appropriate things from the drop down menus (eg if it has a choice of month/quarter/year you would choose year).
Then it will give a far more accurate picture of the best deals open to you.0 -
Thank you, I have been online and looked at the last year's bills. I have written down all the kwh and am about to add them all up. Just checking - are Primary units and secondary units all the same when it comes to the total amount used? I am 99% sure they are, but am feeling quite spooked by the whole thing because I don't want to get choose the wrong company to switch to and waste a lot of money.
(Sorry for stupid question again)0 -
Yes, just total up the kilowatt hours and ignore the primary/secondary usage, the comparison sites will take this into account for the individual tariffs

Thanks again - I just did that and am now v.confused....... the comparison site says that EDF Online Saver v 10 is the best compared to the EON EnergyOnline that I have been put on. However, EON have just told me they want to put my DD up to £86 (from £68) a month, whereas the EDF figures show a yearly spend of £1120 which, when I divide it by 12 comes to £93.33 which I assume is what the monthly DD will be? Will it? Is that how it is worked out?
If that is right then how is the EON DD price cheaper, when it isn't showing that on the comparison site? I am very confused!!!!!0 -

Yes, they are the same energy. It is just that they make you pay more for the first few units you use in a quarter.0 -
Another silly question probably......
Once you have your comparisons, how can you tell what your monthly DD will be?0 -
Most companies will simply take your expected spend through the comparison sites and divide it by 12. I say most because some smaller companies don't do this, for example Ovo will give a higher DD in the winter than the summer.
Then all companies will review your DD every 6 months or so to ensure that it will actually cover your usage.0 -
That's what I thought, but EON have offered me a DD of £86 even though a twelfth of my expected spend with them on the comparison site is £97ish. That's why I am confused......0
