Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday, 4th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning all,
I couldn't find today's thread so sorry if I've double posted.
Bright, sunny and fresh here this morning.
Got a later start today which is a bonus on a Monday:)
Dinner tonight is leftovers and/or freezer surprise. It will just be 3 of us today.
When I get back from work I will make meatballs for tomorrow and put them to chill. We will be 8 eating together tomorrow so that's a lot of polpettine!!
The potatoes are growing really well and taste delicious. The salad leaves and spinach are growing like Topsy. The tomatoes are starting to turn orange:) Courgettes and butternut squash have flowers but disappointing it produce.
Have a good Monday all, hugs to all in need or want.
Cheers m'dears, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning Silvermaid and all who follow,
Dull and overcast here but washing still out on line.
Typical monday morning in our house, kids arguing, lots of things needing doing at the last minute even though they have had all weekend to get them ready and everything untidy again after the weekend peace!
DS got back from his Duke of Edinburgh expedition last night, he was hot and tired but he had really enjoyed himself. He was also really hungry, a weekend of nutella sandwiches is not enough for a growing boy.:D
We have all the new pupils for next year in school for the day today, there will be lots of nervous children this morning who will hopefully feel a lot happier by the end of the day, DD2 has got her visit to her new school on wednesday.
Tea tonight is pasta bake that I made yesterday and the remains of yesterdays fruit salad.
Hugs to all that need them.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Morning everyone
Sunny, bright and warm here again this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Washing out on the line and another now in the WM. Have been reasonably productive over the past few days, DS2's bedroom been decluttered - not quite finished but much better, took 5 bags of rubbish to the tip and 6 bags to the CS. Have done a menu plan but not sure how well we will stick to it as have school play to watch Tuesday eve and a meeting at new senior school Wednesday evening - we'll see!
Had a lovely weekend away, with live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evening, weather made it most enjoyable too.
Got to go and get ready for work.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Moorhen - We too have the new children coming into school today, and all the others bump up to their new tutor groups - hence me starting an hour later today as I am not needed for this. Yep, there'll be lots of nerves and excitement by the bucket-load:)Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning All,
another glorious day here.
Hugs to Molly, tappers, sistercas, redruby and anyone else in need. JackieO I hope you've heard from Davy by now.
Eventful morning at my sister's yesterday, dear niece was certainly shown the error of her ways, and told a few home truths too, so hopefully she will pull up her breeches and start to behave a bit better. I have never seen anyone behave the way she did on Saturday
Lou is still in hospital, she needs a wee procedure, but she has come down with a cold/throat infection thing, and they were reluctant to operate yesterday because of that. She's on a drip though and getting antibiotics so hopefully it will clear up quickly, poor sour - she's really been through the mill. Just realised the drip sounds awful but she's OK - she is also looking for a recipe for chinese style chicken and sweetcorn soup as she wants her OH to make it and take it up to her lol - anyone have one, maybe its in the Takeaway Secret book?
Plan for the day - the kids are off to the playscheme, and I am going to get a few plants to put on the front borders, my garden has been woefully neglected this yearI have a washing to do, and am going to prepare a picnic/ bbq and go meet OH at Strathclyde Park after he's finished work and have a nice evening at the park with the dog.
Have a lovely day all, take care.

Morning all
Back from my night shift. It's lovely here again.
Hugs to LOU, can't help with the recipe though. Hugs to anyone else who needs one.
Had a check of my finances and I might just squeeze into the next month in credit, there's going to be a lot of creative menus going on in this house. Tea tonight is pasta bake as well, I make mine with a thick tomatoe sauce and mozzarella on the top.
Off to prompt DS to get ready for school. Have a good day all.

Morning all,
Another beautiful day here, better make the most of it, its meant to be raining all week, wm is on the go, and I will have a search around for any more to do.
I managed to smash my wing mirror yesterday backing out of my drive, never done than in 20 odd years of driving, still we managed to get another one for £5 off Ebay so not too bad.
I bit the bullet and phoned my mum yesterday, she was very abrupt with me, and did not chat at all, so I will back off a bit now, at least I have tried.
Went to see my dad yesterday, he is in hospital, and the won't let him out because they can't get his blood levels steady (diabetic) my mum always gets his bloods spot on, basically the hospital are not feeding him enough, he eats an awful lot, but they wont listen to us, hopefully he will be home soon, and mum can start to feed him up, his wrists are half the size of my dd's
Have emptied the dw, but still need to have a good clean through, the study needs a good sort out too, as it seems to have become the dumping ground for everyone, need to stop that, will do an online shop today, and dd and I have the dentist at 2, also got a load of bits to list on ebay.
Meant to be roast chicken for dinner, but its soooo hot I may have to rethink.
Hugs to Lou, sistercas and the Jackies and molly and Tappers, and anyone else in need, have good days all xx0 -
Many thanks for the hugs. Goodness only know what i would do without you all x Thinking of you guys and sending lots of healing vibes both emotionally and physically x
I need to get moving and start sorting stuff out as cleaner is coming today:T:T:T Other than that its a very quiet day. Need to fit in a bit of gardening and clean my guinea pigs out.
DS3 has gone off to work experience at his old primary school and DS2 is getting ready for his first festival - Wakestock. It doesnt get any easier, having to let them go off for the first time :eek::eek:
Hugs xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning Peeps,
Another lovely day here in E Kent, 2nd load in wm 1st lot on line. Have been out to post office this morning to post my sis's birthday & WA cards, popped in to co-op on the offchance of whoopsies, £1.65 for a reduced loaf of bread  I think not. Last nights dinner of lo's served up in a large yorkie went down really well & v nearly defeated DS hollow legs :rotfl:so def will be repeated. Meant to be fish pie tonight but DD has text to say she will be home, so think it will be chicken & mash pie instead as she doesn't eat fish. Have lots of spuds to use up so think I will take a leaf out of JackieO's book & cook, mash/roast & freeze them before they go over, DS can do the peeling. Back is still twangingbut have appt at hospital on Weds so hopefully they will be able to sort it out as am starting to feel like the crooked man crossed with the leaning tower of Pisa
.
Big hugs to all those who need them (sadly so many x)
Spoons & hi5's as appropriate & best wishes to all x
