My courier either works a saturday or a sunday and seems to pick which one!! Then again, we are very local here - I know where they live, have their telephone number and they leave stuff in my parents' porch up the road if I am not in.0

I've never seen mine. My orders are always sat outside my door! I only know it has arrived when i get the 'your order has arrived' email and i then go to check and sure enough it's outside the door. Good thing i live inside a flat!0 -
At least you got a VIP slot, I will never get one as I have to pay with my credit card whenever I buy anything, but I always go to the sale infact went and queued at 2.30am yesterday morning and was disappointed when the main outfit I wanted for my daughter had the Sale tag stuck through the arm of the t-shirt and had a hole and the rest of the same outfits in different sizes were the same.Sealed Pot Challenge #0160

I am another one who pays upfront so I wont ever have a VIP slot, or free delivery to store, or be able to use gift cards online etc and although I think it is an odd way to do business I'm not bothered about not having a VIP slot, you can go into store early on sale day or wait on returns, it takes a bit more effort perhaps but we have managed to get most items this way over the past few years.
I don't think anyone needs to explain lots of returns, I have taken plenty back from Next sales that look lovely on the website but look completely different in the flesh. I wouldn't order two different sizes with a view to return unless I had a credit account though lol
So far I have only managed to pick up two things that I had on my list, a few of the others are available to deliver within five weeks - I don't want to pay for items that I may never see though... I wonder if they expect returns on these items hence them having a long lead time?Comping wishlist for 2017

Hi, just wondering if any of you guys know if the couriers are delivery today? I don't think they are but wanted to double check as i've had an email telling me the bulk of my order is on its way to me? TIA
I think they do deliver Sundays - especially at sale times!! I waited in all day yesterday for some of my order to come... I'd clicked on 'track this parcel' in the morning and it said "courier received" at 9.15am... this usually means it's coming that day... I waited in as long as I could and had to pop to Sainsburys at 6.15pm... the order turned up just after I'd gone apparently (my neighbour took it in for me... there was about 9 parcels and because it was mainly homeware, they were really bulky too!)
I've since had another email saying my order is on it's way but on tracking it this morning, there are no further details apart from "13/07 - Order Generated." So as there's no depot or courier info on there, I think I can safely say it won't turn up today.0 -
There are always people who get really offended by Next's VIP system - they don't have to sell things at half price, they don't have an obligation to offer those things to you and they don't have to give everyone the chance of the same slot. It is what it is...a commercial way of getting people through their site to manage the traffic (its obviously impractical for them to register slots for the main sale as so many more people access it...). Yep, the good stuff goes quickly - I logged in at 6pm on the dot, on the very first slot and still couldn't get any of the aftershaves or perfumes I'd marked for christmas presents. But I'm not narked that someone like your neighbour got them all - I'm happy that I was able to order a fair bit of stuff I wanted at bargain prices. I never get too attached to a particular item on my want list...if its there, its there...if not, then lucky that other items are.
If I were Next, I'd prefer that someone bought 10 of the same item. If I've made a commercial decision that I want to sell it at that price, I wouldn't care who bought it. It would save me shipping costs if I was sending 10 of the same item to one person rather than to 10 different people. All they see is that they have 2,000 bottles of a perfume to shift and 2,000 sold at X price. The majority of people are really chuffed that they got a VIP slot and once you've had one, and waited for the email to come before trying to register your slot...then realised that all you tend to get then is a late slot...you realise for the next sale that its worth hovering around this thread, logging in and out of your account until the registration screen is released and THEN trying to register for a slot whether you have had a postcard/text/email or not. I didn't get any of those until 2 days after the registration opened - but I was obviously on the list from the start as I could log into my account and get the first slot.
Without the preview list, people would go a bit consumer mad, grabbing stuff because they've not had the chance to compare and think about it - if the electricals were posted in advance, people would be able to compare the prices and see if the wii package is a bargain. It is so much more difficult to work it out with items like that as the games/accessories included make the difference between great price and rubbish price.
As for ordering 300 items and returning lots - I can afford to pay for them all if I wanted to keep them (just about!! lol)...but a lot are the wrong fit/cut or not as quality as I thought (Next seem to either have very well made items, or terrible....I guess they have some duff suppliers) or just don't look like anything in the catalogue. That's why they do easy returns because its very difficult to pick the right item and size from a picture. Yes, I could probably keep them and sell them on ebay, but I'd rather send them back and someone else have the chance of getting the bargain they wanted.
Every Next sale we have the same things:
1) people who are massively excited in the days before VIP slots are released
2) people who are massively disappointed when they phone Next and are told they aren't getting one
3) proof again and again that the customer service agents aren't told anything that is helpful!!
4) people who are even more excited to discover they got their first VIP slot
5) people who are outraged that they didn't get one/got a late VIP slot and threaten to cancel their account
6) people who reakon the whole system is unfair, whether they got a VIP slot or not
All in all though, its great fun and far better to be sitting at my computer with the thrill of cutting and pasting and wondering what will arrive and what won't....then barging around the shops in the sales! I for one think Next are great!
I could not have said it better myself!
I have a VIP every main sale apart from last year Summer and to be honest at first I wondered how come but then I saved a packet as the VIP is obviosly about getting people to spend money. I can think of no other shop where I spend £500 in one go - did not even spend that when I bought my recent PC
As for returns - yes people buy because they go crazy - the reason I return stuff simply because Next sizing is now rubbish and Ive had missing items, faulty items in the last few sales. Or the stuff is very poor quality and not like image.
Ive found loads more days after the sale starts early morning than VIP day first slots!! Everyone still ha s a chance to get something!
This VIP saga is no worse than M&S sale as you watch the items deleted from your basket before you have checked out!:o0 -
I think it would be VERY unfair if I lost my VIP status because I had a lot of returns.
I tend to go mad during the sale and often spend approx £800, I would then take back about £500-£600 of good back the reaosn for this is simple. I am over 6ft tall and have a size 8/9 depending on whether its a wide fit or EEE wide.
Now Next do not stock the range of size 9s and I think in a very small selection of their stores they even have only a limited range of the Tall items. I use the website at other times of the year in the exact same way.
How am I supposed to try on stock? I can't do it in store, I have no idea if it will fit or not.0 -
