LOL. The market certainly doesn't seem too worried about the situation. ;) Perhaps you should make a killing by shorting them?

(I'm a shareholder in the said company and haven't sold one share yet).

Perhaps someone could PM me with the details of whatever company it is you're talking about (if you don't want to post publicly?)

I presume the reason for them not being named willy nilly is because people on here seem to be either fanatically pro or very very against this company. Some say the reward scheme is fabulous, and some say the energy is over priced so you'd be better off just shopping around as normal.

One thing in the times article stood out to me

"Last year it made profits of £245m on revenue of £7bn."

Would that be the obscene profits people make such a fuss about?

They can be named willy nilly but they just cant be discussed as there is a special thread.

Thats all I can say about that.

There's a more detailed piece in the FT

Analysts point out that Npower has significantly underperformed its counterparts in RWE. Last year, Npower’s return on capital employed was 5.3 per cent, making Britain the worst performing geographical area in the RWE group.

That geographical area includes Germany, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland (plus smaller stuff in other countries)

... so much for 'rip off Britain'.

The reality is that Britain is becoming a hugely unattractive place to be an energy supplier.

Thank you. I won't discuss any further as I see that is a forum rule, other than to say that I would imagine it depends very much on the contract between UW and npower and whether it has any change of ownership clause.

I very much doubt UW would have entered into a contract which meant that npower could just cancel it without compensation, meaning they would fold.

  • I suppose having to give back all those millions of pounds to the punters it had wrongly billed in previous years isn't exactly going to help last year's UK bottom line figure, though.

I wasn't aware of this either, and as far as I can see it isn't apparent that npower are the suppliers on the UW website as they only refer to the 'big six'
