Went in today and did an initial order for the 1.6L. The 2.0L AUTOMATIC wuld have been ideal but the wait for that is anothe month or so (after September).

Ah well....Hope you enjoy following stuff.

They are putting this 1.6 engine in the new Mondeo, What Car says its OK in that bigun so should be quite reasonable in something smaller.

    So just enjoy!

With the price of fuel these days, and my driving style changing over the years (for the better), I am now a 60-65mph cruiser in the first line. Suits me just fine!

    Thank you all.

Changed for the better? Problem is newer cars are geared higher so your probably using more fuel at that speed
    than doing 80+.

My mondeo gets better fuel consumption in 5th gear at that sort of speed than in 6th gear. 80+ in 6th and my MPG
    gets much better.

Not enough torque to pull the high gearing until the revs go up a bit more. The 1.6 maybe worse.

30 - 40mph in 4th gear and i barely need to touch the throttle though. 60+ mpg, Not bad for a 2L 1.5ton
    car.

If it gives 55mpg or more on the motorway and 40mpg or more in town, then I'll be happy. And, I'm sure it will because the official figures are MUCH HIGHER than what I am after.
