Congratulations Mrs AJ
have a wonderful honeymoon.
Back garden now looking much better ... Apart from the kayak leaning against the table and the washing on the line! Grass has been cut, beds edged, deadheaded and weeded. Wilderness at the back has had a bag full of weeds hauled out of it. Once I'm back from babysitting I'm going to try to have 30 minutes a day to keep on top of housework, and 30 minutes to make more inroads into the garden. I need to move some plants from the back to the spaces in the beds. And I'm hoping the guy who did the windows will help me finish the garden.
Guess I'd better start sorting my stuff out and head off to make sure that my mother and my nephew have survived each other's company! Will be back flying sometime on Wednesday. Electrician is coming to his bit of the bathroom tomorrow, so I really need to get my act together on sorting the rest of the stuff out for that too! Not sure when I'll have time for work0 -
congratulations mrs aj! Have a great honeymoon.......
first load of washing is dry - second is sodden on the line. Oh well....
Been into town - got DD2 2 new bras (25% off) and some stuff from Holland & Barrett - buy one get one half price.
put DD2's chicken into marinate - the rest of us are having fish -she is intolerant.
Shed loads of ironing done...but loads more to do - where does it come from?:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Valli - thanks for the suggestion re cherry jam. I have stoned and cooked 3.5lb tonight so they can drip overnight. I haven't had a chance to go and pick the blackcurrants from the community gardens this year so none for us this time. I must plant some of my own. The boys ate most of the raspberries and strawberries so just a few stragglers frozen for fruit coulis to go with meringues at some point.
ohI meant for you to cook them whole...the stones would be held back by the muslin...
been to Meadowhall- in my naivety I thought it wouldn't be busy...and we had to go from AnWland as we watched DS in the first half of a friendly football match...well! if they were being friendly I'd hate to see them not friendly! *gasps with horror*
so am pooped
Froddy - no not yet but first impressions are good
RachelS ((hugs)) Ring the CT people and get your council tax reduced - you don't need proof...just the date he went. Maybe enquire with your county council re free school lunches...
at Meadowhall we tried the handmade burger co - and DD got discount with her schoolstudent card...she is being well brought up inlike mr lavish-with-money-even-though-he-has-none up there (thumbs in direction of DS)
so after a day spent chilling I find I have lots to do *rolls eyes*Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I did wonder, never mind. I used the drained cherries for the hens which wouldn't have worked with the stones in.
1lb juice with 1lb of sugar, just finished cooking it. If I haven't done it for long enough then I have some rather splendid cherry syrup which is a better result than cherry toffee!'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Fingers crossed for a good set then Hex!
Any fruit can be prepared this way for a jelly (ie no pulp from the fruit, skin, seeds etc) instead of a jam. Just wash the fruit, cover with water and simmer until well cooked. Drain overnight though a muslin (DON'T squeeze - apparently it makes the jelly cloudy) then allow a pint of juice to a pound of sugar. Some fruit will need extra pectin - for instance for brambles I get a bramley apple, quarter it and boil that with the fruit. Bramble Jelly is absolutely delicious...
Damsons - wash, boil whole (again a pain because they are small so this avoids spending hours fishing for stones).
I also tell lots of people that if they provide me with fruit they will be reawrded with a jar (or two) of jam or jelly...that's how I get cherries and damsons.
Mind you, on a country walk last year with the LSB I spotted somebody picking something off a tree and munching it - I went to investigate and it was red and black cherries on trees - so I might be going for a little drive soon;)Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Today I have:
hoovered all downstairs
been to MrT and put away
done the plastic recycling
had a nap
pots and turkey in for dinner - I just fancied a roast
need to go and peel and chop veg
going to get the ironing board out now
On Wednesday, it's my day off and i want to do the kitchen. What do i clean very dusty/greasy wooden kitchen doors with, and what about the light fittings? They are fairly grim.

Wossat then?
