in Credit cards
Hi all
After a bit of advice please.
I have 2 credit cards with a combined blance of about 3.5k on them
barclaycard initial and capital one classic.
Not the whole ammount was just for fun debt. i had to move home for the health and saftey of me and my two children. majority of it was the move and i would say £300 was on a deserved trip away.
Now i am paying aprox £60 a month on the capital one with £30pm interest aprox
Barclaycard is better i have a low interest rate for the life of the balance and am paying £50 odd a month into this one. interest last month on the barclaycard was £11.00
About 4 months ago i applied for a virgin credit card and was declined no reason as to why, but i am assuming it was because i had a ccj on my credit file for a water bill in late 2008 for £118 this was settled early 2009. i have got both my credit cards since the ccj as i did not have any before.
I am upto date on all my credit accounts and have never missed a payment on any of them. green ticks all the way on my credit file.
I am unsure if i have too much credit so to speak as i have
2 very accounts both with over £1000 credit limit £30 balance on both
next account with £3500 limit £179 balance
h & m account with £250 limit £26 balance
capital one classic credit card £2100 limit £1449.41 balance
cappital one progress credit card £300 limit £100 balance
barclaycard inital credit card £2500 limit £2026.35
virgin mobile 18m contract £14pm had for 2 months
halifax bank with £250 overdraft £0 into overdraft
halifax bank for my dd £250 overdraft £0 into overdraft
oli cat think this was classed as freemans settled as have not ordered anything for about 2 yrs
24 ace cat again showing as settled as not ordered anything for about 3 yrs
Has anyone got any advice if i should try and get a new credit card if at all possible to balance transfer either 0% or a low percentage rate for the life of the balance like my barclaycard one. am looking to transfer at least the capital one large balance if not both credit cards, and what card would i most likely be accepted for.
Thank you for anyone that took the time to read or reply in advance, i know it is a long post but wanted people to have the facts to see if anyone could help :0)

2 very accounts both with over £1000 credit limit £30 balance on both Pay the £30 and cancel both accounts
next account with £3500 limit £179 balance Pay the £179 and cancel account - or at least reduce the limit to about £250
h & m account with £250 limit £26 balance Pay the £26 and cancel account
capital one classic credit card £2100 limit £1449.41 balance
cappital one progress credit card £300 limit £100 balance Pay the £26 and cancel account
barclaycard inital credit card £2500 limit £2026.35
virgin mobile 18m contract £14pm had for 2 months This is fine
halifax bank with £250 overdraft £0 into overdraft This is fine
halifax bank for my dd £250 overdraft £0 into overdraft Why is your daughter's account in your name? She should have her own account. Close this.

Have put comments above.
How long after getting CCJ did you get your credit cards? And what is the APR on the cards? Is there a chance the CCJ had not been registered before you were accepted for them?
I'm sure in usual cases you would find it very difficult to get any sort of credit card with your CCJ. I got defaults in 2008 and am only just being accepted for the "bad credit" credit cards.
Best thing to do is close the majority of account then do the Moneysupermarket Smart Search which will tell you the likelihood of you being accepted for one of the 0% balance transfer cards.
Hope that helps!0 -

Same here - Had defaults myself from 2008 and only just getting the bad credit cards and learnt my lesson from all this debt, never ever again, will do without in future and feel better after saving up.David

Thanks for the advice, prehaps you are right that the default was not registered when i got my first capital one , but im certian that it was on my file when i got my barclaycard and second capital one. in fairnes the cards all started with a limit of £100-£200 and have built them up by buying things that i need (shopping ect) and paying the money straight in.
I mistakenly put halifax account as dd i did not mean daughter as they are only 5 and 6 i was meant to put direct debit. :0)
Will follow advice anf see where that gets me.
many thanks again0
