Deducting VAT if phone contract cancelled early

If a mobile contract is cancelled early, then there is still an obligation to pay the line rental for what would have been remainder of the contracted term
However as the monthly line rental would include an element of VAT (for services), is it possible to deduct this VAT as the service is not being received?
Do the operators do this automatically, or is it a big argument to get them to knock the VAT off?

Thanks
That's clear as mud then!
Looks like more googling is required0 -
You should still have to pay VAT as the termination charges constitute a taxable supply and thua the phone company will account for VAT on what it receives from you (AFAIK).0
