Id tell your wife to stick to the health and safety regs, surely she she was trained in what clothing to wear for taking trays out of the oven, what clothing to wear when in the freezers etc.

You are absolutely correct DCFC79 - BUT was she trained in H&S regs, what clothing to wear and safe working/operating procedures?

Based on the what has been submitted by the OP - I suspect not.

I should have said that to my boss last year when the ice cream freezer went off, destroying £200 worth of stock. I can just imagine his face! :rotfl:

Hopefully the company didn't go to the WALL(s).

    Sorry :(

    its a shop

its a shop which has the bakery on the shopfloor to the rear of the shop.... freezer is through the back...
  • Good point!
all i get from her is she has so many things to do in that shop she has no time, sometimes she does not get her break because there is so much to do, if she is buzzed to do the tills cos there is only one other in the shop, cos the manager comes in at 9am or later and not 6am like her and the other on the till, so she is serving customers to and while doing this falling back on the baking, so does all this as well as opens the shop mon- fri and for what? 2p more than min wage!!!!!
But she see's it as a job and we have like everyone else bills to pay ( i work full time myself, she is part time) so she only has a certain time to get the bakery done, as if she has to work over her hours she does not get any overtime, so i guess this is why she rushes to get out the door ontime too... its just mad!
  • so she only has a certain time to get the bakery done, as if she has to work over her hours she does not get any overtime

as in she does not get any pay what so ever over her normal part time hours so if she works back a hour there is no extra pay... and i have seen the pay slip, she aint pulling my leg!

Then it will be your local authorities environmental health department who will be the enforcing body.

You should find your LA here.

    With some other info here

I wouldn't recommend she uses 'I don't have time.' It comes across as being negligent of health and safety procedures.

Re OT does she not get paid any ot because its not actioned or because thats the companys policy, sounds like the store is short staffed plus the manager sounds a bit unfair to say the least

Allowing the use of bread trays as flooring in a walk in fridge is sufficient evidence in my mind to confirm that assertion!
