Just wipe him with a damp cloth.. it will feel like he is being stroked so he probably won't mind.. and it won't have all the junk in wipes have.

If he has fleas, which is most probable there will be flea poo on your bed so easy to check if he has them. Check for ear mite too!!
    And beware of ticks!!!

If he is a stray I'd be amazed if he doesn't have parasites! :p You might be best getting Stronghold spot-on from the vet as it covers fleas, worms and ear mites - all of which are prevalent in stray and feral populations. My girl came to me in a similar manner but already been deflead and wormed: it soon became apparent she had ear mites so had to be chemically zapped again which is not ideal. If untreated apparently the scratching/ head shaking (not all cats with mites do this) can be damage their hearing, the extra wax is a risk for infection and thy can even need their ears flushed out under anaesthetic so financially and for the comfort of the cat it makes sense to treat early.

He may not use the tray if he is only used to outdoor or doesn't like the litter or the size/ site of the box. Does he have several litter trays so he can choose which to use? Is he neutered or still entire?

He's neutered, i've phoned a few more rescue centres and left my details but no moggy of that description is missing, he did visit the litter tray 3 times last night so thats ok, although the first time it looked like he was trying on my bed! whisked him off to the tray though and all was fine, think he was a little bunged up tbh.
he only has the one tray, i don't really have the space for more plus i only live in a flat so time will tell if he's going to be ok up here.
He's also looking a bit more clean and tidy and i will give him the flea stuff as soon as he wakes up :)

I live in a flat and have two litter trays tho I only started out with one - that means one is in my bedroom. _pale_ Thankfully there is a lot that can be done to reduce or eliminate smells with good litter and change of diet!!

I got the second tray after my last cat decided he would not use the 'bathroom facilities' after breakfast if they had been used overnight. With the best will in the world one cannot always scoop first thing in the morning, especially if they are being cared for by someone else when you are away. I also find two trays useful if I have guests or workmen in and need to confine the cat for their own safety. You can also train cats to use a human toilet (search Litter Kwitter on YouTube).

Fingers crossed your visitor takes to indoor life, I highly recommend the Purrs shop to keep indoor cats entertained. All profits to cat rescue and brilliant service. :j

Best of luck with your new owner :D

I took in a stray tom cat about 9 months ago. after spending 6 months chasing him away from my bins!! I thought he belonged to a neighbour and was looking for extra treats. One day I reached out to grab him, to give him a good scare, and all I could feel was bones. Poor kitty hasn't had a decent meal in months. I started feeding him, and within a fortnight he was sleeping on the end of my bed, haven't been able to move him since :)
  • Awwww Red, lovely to hear another happy ending - sounds as if he's made himself totally at home!
