Vancouver in August buying stand-by ticket?

I'm looking to fly out to Vancouver, Canada in August but tickets are around 700. Someone put me in touch with a friend whos saying he can get me ticket for 460 but Im not 100% about is.
Just wondering if anyone knows of any places can find cheap standby tickets?

There's no such thing these days. 99% of the time anyway. The airlines work on the premise that you will be desperate to travel and will pay whatever they ask0
