A friend of mine has aol silver, and is having trouble getting online. He has a bt voyager router with ethernet connection. Can he get rid of the aol software off his computer and still connect to the internet? He's not technical at all but my advice to him is to get rid of it if possible...(sorry but I don't like the way this kind of software takes over your computer!) Any advice would be appreciated

Hi Murphy - i'm happily using AOL solver just by entering my screename and password in my router admin screen - never loaded Aol software based on previous experience. it might be worthwhile searching google groups and the aol forum on adslguide for specific information relating to the removal of software and guidance on the bt router. Incidentally if your friends problems are recent it might be worthwhile asking AOL if he's been moved from vanilla ADSLto ADSLMAX which I believe needs ten days before it becomes stable.0
