The jubilant July NSD challenge

Well, a few drops of rain did eventually fall over the Land of Nargle yesterday evening, so I am not surprised at the monsoon that greeted me this morning.
Bdini - chill out, maybe set yourself just an hour to do some ironing but what doesn't get done in that time stays unironed. The rest of the day is yours to do with as you wish. And I don't wish to worry you but, the last time I saw Hubert, Igor was taking him for a walk. Carrying snorkel and flippers.
Red - you were not meant to have that wine, obviously.
Suzitiger - welcome to the asylum!
Mini-spend today as DS fancied a walk in the rain to the local shop so I gave him some cash to get milk and sliced bread. I said he could spend the change as he wished (around 50p I estimated). He came back with a pack of Jaffa Cakes reduced to 35 pence! That's ma boy!!!One life - your life - live it!0 -
Another NSD for me today creeping up slowly 9 for me now out of 14 x1414-sealed pot challenge :j157-virtual sealed pot challenge:) £10.23..
£175.73/£280 october grocery challenge:eek: 3/15 NSD October0 -
Jinty, lovely the rain smiley!
I'm doing that here too... and heading South West to the coast today, so suspect I will be doing that all the way there!!!!
Thanks for the virtual aromatherapy! It must have worked a treat as I'm feeling rather sleepy this morning!
Declaring number 7 for yesterday. However heading to a BBQ  (I'm guessing it'll be an indoors one!) so will likely be spending today. I'm veggie and when I askedmy friend about the logistics of cooking veggie along side £100 worth of meat  she asked if I could bring my own disposable BBQ. Cue my veggie rant about why I'd rather just say thank you but no to most BBQ invites. Anyway, I think it might be best to eat before I get there!!!!
That's terrible! I'm not veggie, but I wouldnt ask anyone to do that!
I always feel rotten for veggies at BBQ's as noone ever seems to cater for them. My sis is veggie so I'm well acquainted with Linda McCartney etc! Hope you enjoy your trip down the SW. My late in-laws had a caravan at Saltcoats which, while not being the bonniest spot on earth, holds a lot of happy memories:)

I had the most lovely news last night...my friend has just agreed to marry her partner of several years. They are a really lovely couple and I am so happy for them
Hope you all have a lovely day today..I am expecting a phone call from my sis as I am her birth partner and she always has her children on a SaturdayThis one is two days late, so she should be making an appearance soon
Gosh - it's all happening down your way this weekend!
I'm just popping in to declare an early NSD for today - #5 thank you!
I havent spent anything other than on the fruit as I said earlier and now I'm in and not spending anything!
Have done a mountain of ironing and general tidying up so I'm rather pleased!
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -

I totally agree Jinty. While OH is a relativly new veggie, I have been to many a bbq where the veggie(s) are catered for in some way or another - and not by having to bring their own bbq. I'm quite keen on the old Linda M range myself, the bangers and their farmhouse pies are yummy.
I think it's perfectly fair to suggest that people bring thier own 'meat' and something to drink to a bbq if the host is providing sides, rolls and some soft drinks, plus the bbq but if there was only one veggie going I'm sure I'd not only sort out the separate cooking but also do some veggie kebabs or something (things that aren't costly or difficult) that everyone could enjoy. Sorry, rant over
I'm currently looking out at bright blue sky...and rain...go figure on that one! Haven't managed to drag my sorry !!!!! to Mr A today (job for tomorrow) but OH wants wine for this evening so that could be a NSD scuppered...had better check the household grocery budget to see if it will cover that and save me NSD...Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Oh yikes! It's raining cats, dogs and other assorted animals in this neck of the woods too today - prob my fault for planning some gardening. Still at least the plants will enjoy a good drink - oh and the frog I saw earlier hopping across the garden.
Was it this one, kerri ?:DThe time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

When i said i had missed Igor, i didn't mean that much :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Funny though i did hear some banging & rocking coming from next doors caravan, & there was a faint aroma of something indistinguishable on the air.... quick close the curtains before he sees me!!
Thanks for the permission to be lazy, i have enjoyed sitting on the sofa (although i do have to admit to finishing all the ironing... but that was because i got so engrossed watching Columbo while i was doing it that it didn't really seem like a chore!)

Thats a serious bargain, well done that boy!!
LSD today, was aiming for an NSD but had to nip out for some cough syrup after waking myself up too many times in the night, & accidentally went into the blue & yellow shop & got some fab shoe storage, so now i might actually be able to find a matching pair in the mornings!!!
Quite chuffed as it's made inside the wardrobe look so much more tidy, call me sad but i found the organising quite therapeutic :eek:February NSD challenge 5/150 -
Evening all
Spoony got my 10th NSD today......loads of chocolate bought yesterday!!!

Hi lovely NSD gang:A
As you can see there is lots of activity on this challenge at the moment and it's difficult sometimes to see how many NSDs you're all declaring on posts.
Could I ask you to highlight your number of NSDs in a colour and in bold so that I can see them easily when I whizz through the posts - red would be best but I don't really mind as long as I can see the numbers easily.
Some helpful suggestions and ideas to follow below from our sponsor and godmother, BigMummaF :ANO SPEND CHALLENGE.
1. Have a good, long think about what YOU want to include in your Spend & Excluded categories.
Some of us count everything from Direct Debits & school expenses, while others do not include things like essential Bills or emergency medical costs. If you plan what is or is not a Spend for you now, it will help you decide on a realistic Target.
2. It is NOT a race!
We all have very different demands on our time & bank balance, so please do not think you have to buy everything on 1st January & make it last till 31st December! A few of us have been following this Challenge for a long...long...LONG time so have developed plans & ploys to help us along the way
3. Most important of all, WE..DO..NOT..FAIL!
Sometimes we can't quite reach our Target, but that is fineEveryone knows how Life will try to trip us up, & that is when you will find us here to help you back on to your feet.
OK, an idea of how some of us do things.
1. What you will or will not include as a 'Spend'.
Some people are doing other Challenges too, & don't include the money spent on those for this one.
Some will try to shop for other bits on the days their direct debits etc go out of their bank accounts; they're the real hard core of the bunch& have been l-o-n-g time Nsders so don't panic
Some won't count those annoying last minute demands from school & collections as you can't plan for them in advance, likewise emergency prescriptions or visits to the vet
Personally speaking & providing I don't buy anything else, I don't count parking for hospital appointments.(..but then I usually do my shopping because I'm already out )
General thoughts on €bay sales is the buyer has paid P&P so no cost to you
2. It takes Time to reach mega-numbers!
The First suggestion is the first, because a bit of planning will work wonders on your road to your Target. Have a look at Solvent's (aka Spoon:rotfl:) first posts each month for a hefty list of other Threads that may be of help. For example, there's a few giving ideas for packed lunches so you can avoid standing in the queue at the bakers for 45mins of your lunch hour! A good incentive to tweak your healthy eating & the pounds you save will show in your bank balance AND your waistline
It helps to have various 'money pots' for the different costs that happen like Scouts, dinner money, yoga, window cleaner etc etc. The idea is you "spend" all that money in one hit by....let's say **putting the week's bus fares into the pretty coffee jar, Jo's tumble tots SIZE=2]Weds mornings[/SIZE in the cracked teapot & Ben's £1 coin for the gym locker SIZE=2]Friday lunch[/SIZE in the pocket of the changing bag, on Tuesdays every week when you've got some change from doing the food shop, so an already spendy day. At least four 'spending days' condensed into one(**mine's jam jars for windows, milkman & a bit towards the bills!)
3. Any day the money stays in your pocket is a bonus!
If you look at it as a day you beat the system, you can't help but :j so don't fret it--ENJOY! If nothing else in here, we do manage find something to make us smile
We have virtual outings to wonderful places that never cost us a bean :rotfl:New York, Edinburgh & Brighton have been a couple & Spoon usually pilots the Tardis but you can use your own transport; my personal favourite has been a sit-on lawn mower borrowed from the cricket clubThe only thing to be aware of is Hubert the donkey who is partial to anything remotely edible but is not yet house-trained
And Remember;
there are no silly questions, so don't be afraid to ask us anything!"If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride"
