Hi, i have just sold 4 pairs of trainers three different sizes to a buyer i posted them to a trading estate so it looks like he might be selling them on.Any way had a email from him today saying he is happy with three pairs but not the fourth [ the dearest pair] he has said that this pair has a hole in and he thinks this is a fake.he wants me to give him a refund and then he said he will give me good feedback.now i smell a rat,Frst of all i know they are not fakes because i bought them from the branded shop and paid a lot for them.So i have told him first of all he is welcome to take the to the brand in question and have them tested but if he sends the trainers back to me i will give him a refund.I also had a look at hes feedback to see if he has done this before and it seams strange that you can not read hes feedback it is all private? now my question is once he sends the trainers back do i have to refund him any postage as i know they are not faulty and he is trying it on and trying to hold me to ransom regarding feedback because i have 100% positive.

100% feedback doesn't matter.
No matter what you do, someone won't like it. Every buyer knows that, what matters to us is what response, if any, you put. Insults, shouting, straight onto the next seller.0 -

I think you only have to refund him the original sale cost including postage that he paid to have them sent.
I don't think you are under any obligation to refund his return postage which must be by a online trackable service.
Even if he left you negative feedback you can respond to it by saying offered a full refund on return of item.0 -
If they're faulty a good seller will usually ask to get them back and refund return postage costs, since it's not the buyer who's at fault here.
If he's buying them to sell on then quality is pretty important as he would otherwise have to bear the loss. There's no law against buying cheap on eBay and selling on for a profit, but your sales need to be as-described and it's reasonable for someone to complain about a damaged item, whether business or consumer.
Get them back, find out what's happened and refund him his postage if they are damaged. If he has negged you then respond calmly to it to minimise the damage done by it."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

if he sells them on or not is not the problem i couldnt care less ,my issue is first of all he had 4pairs of branded trainers so he should know hes stuff.he is saying one pair is fake i bought these and he can take them to the police and give them my name and address if he wanrs they are Not fake .With regards to the refund i am not going to give him a refund without him sending the trainers back.If they're faulty a good seller will usually ask to get them back and refund return postage costs, since it's not the buyer who's at fault here.

Just refund the postage that the additional weight of the fourth pair would of cost by adding it to the other 3 pairs.
He has to prove that you receive them back so would need to send recorded delivery or special delivery. PayPal wouldn't refund until he could provide them with a online tracking number to confirm you got them back.0 -

Don't get confused. There is only one occasion where paypal need a buyer to prove using tracking that an item has been received back by the seller, and that is where the seller is dodgy and denies receipt. I see no evidence here that OP is a dodgy seller and is intending to lie to paypal about return.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yup, if OP is happy to refund then the buyer can send them untracked - much better for the OP if they sort this out amicably and arrange a return with good grace to keep the person happy rather than provoke the issue and make it go to a dispute."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

The only thing I did forget to say is that buyer should be reminded to keep proof of posting in case they need to make a claim for loss from Royal mail.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Just to expand on this: If a buyer says he sent it back (but doesn't get POP) but the seller didn't receive it (and the seller is not dodgy) what is the outcome then with PayPal regarding refunding the buyer?0
