Free ebay auction sniper

Ive mentioned this in another post but think it maybe needs its own. As far as i am aware there is no-one else offering a totaly FREE ebay sniper tool (until now). Goofbay, the people who brought you the other free ebay tools have just launched a free ebay sniper tool:
Goofbay's free auction sniper
Completely free to all, no downloads, no trials, no weekly limits. you just sign up, log in and start sniping! if you have the toolbar you dont even need to leave ebay to snipe, simply click a button from your address bar when your viewing ebay items. Its a uk based site too so even better for those who mainly buy on ebay uk (the snipe will be even more accurate)
this is the only sniper that actually has been tested and approved by ebays developer team

Nice one. I'll have a look later.
I've never used a sniper but probably lost a few items to people that have.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
chances are youve lost out to snipers. you should deffo try it i guarantee once you start sniping you'll wonder why on earth you ever bid on auctions in the past?! Stop bidding, get sniping and start Winning! If your totally new to sniping then here is my top tips for you which will help you win every time!
1. Never snipe/bid in whole amounts
Always go a small ODD amount above the maximum price you wanted to pay. Most people bid in even amounts therefore by going for example £1.39 above what you want to pay you will win the majority of items you bid on (even if they have snipers too). Say for example you wanted to pay a "MAX" of £40 for an item, set your snipe at £41.39 as most people will have in their mind a max bid of an even amount (ie they too will have a max of £40.00) so even if you sniped £40 you would only meet there max and not win the auction.
2. Know ebay's bid increments
Obviously when your sniping/bidding an small odd amount above the even bid you need to know the next minimum bid increment (so that you snipe a big enough amount) for example sniping £101.79 on a £100 item wont work because the next minimum bid increment is £2.00 so you would need to snipe £103.79 to be sure you make the £2 minimum bid above a £100 price. Here is how increments are determined:
Current Price Bid Increment
£0.01 - £1.00 £0.05
£1.01 - £5.00 £0.20
£5.01 - £15.00 £0.50
£15.01 - £60.00 £1.00
£60.01 - £150.00 £2.00
£150.01 - £300.00 £5.00
£300.01 - £600.00 £10.00
£600.01 - £1,500.00 £20.00
£1,500.01 - £3,000.00 £50.00
£3,000.01 and up £100.00
3. Know the ebay sniper lead times
With Goofbays sniper you can change the amount of seconds before the snipe goes (this is called the lead time) I would never recommend less than 5 second lead time on your ebay snipe. The Goofbay sniper default is 5 seconds I would advise you leave it at that. Make it lower than that and eBay can take too long to process it, or even respond with the wrong message.
Using this method i win virtually EVERY auction i ever want. The only time i lose is when its gone above what i wanted to pay (because i had already sniped a small amount above my "max price" anyway). So if i got outbid at that, the chances are the highest bidders max was the next even amount meaning it was at least £5 more than i wanted to pay anyway.
So... follow these tips above and remember to stick by max bid (and add i tiny bit more) this way you'll win LOTS more auctions with your sniper0 -
I assume you have to give them your id and password - not happy about that, I use

progdownload windows
http://www.jbidwatcher.com/download/JBidWatcher-1.0.exe
no giving passwords to third parties, all done on your computer, works very well, I have won a number of auctions with it.
If you use it and like it you can make a donation to the guy that wrote it using paypal.0 -

I understand your concerns about giving IDs etc to 3rd parties - though they might use ebays token system.
I have a problem with software because- Too many progs running in the background uses up processor cycles and slows down the PC
- You have to have your PC on at bid time which may mean it is on when you don't need it, therefore using electricity - not very eco friendly.
- Not practical for users with dial-up internet.
Life should be a little nuts; otherwise it's just a bunch of Thursdays strung together.0 -
Goofbay failed me last night
I set my snipe at £25 (current highest bid at the time £12). Before the auction ended someone raised the bid to £52. The bid was then retracted. The item sold for £12 - my snipe didn't fire because the 'bid too low' tag appeared when the higher bid came in.
So it seems that the programme has a kind of glitch in it - If a higher bid is placed and then retracted/cancelled before the end of the auction the snipe will not work if it falls between the lowest genuine bid and the higher cancelled bid.
I previously used Auction Sniper as my main sniping tool - I wonder if the same thing would have happened?0 -
Following on from my post above I've had a second look at one of the items I lost/snipe didn't work;
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300060618433
If you look at the bid history & retractions, the winning bidder put in a very high bid and then retracted it. This high bid would 'kill off' all pending snipes ('bid too low' message would be automatically sent to all those with pending snipes)
This was probably a genuine mistake, but surely it could be used as a technique to guarantee that an item you're bidding on is snipe-free?0 -
