Confused about broadband without phone

I currently have a broadband and phone package. I want to leave my current provider at the end of my contract and just have broadband with no phone line.

I don't want to go with a cable provider. Does this mean that I have to have a phone? Or at the least pay line rental to either the company that supplies the broadband or another company?

I need an unlimited download limit, so mobile broadband is not an option.

I think I've answered my own question - yes, I have to pay line rental to have broadband, but just want to check!

ADSL Broadband is delivered over your phone line, you pay a rental for that line.

A cheap option is to go for BT's line rental saver.
Use samknows to choose your ISP.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Hows this fair £9.69 p/m line rental www. yourcalls.net
They catch you like BT do though with a rolling contract.

Think you will very very lucky to find an ADSL ISP that is 'unlimited' Read the small print often hidden.
