The pond in the Blue Peter garden would be the deadliest bit of water around if they drank the same way as they do out there!!

Thailand has plenty to offer beyond a few dodgy streets, don't be put off...
All i would say is be prepared to smile and barter, don't be afraid to walk away and compare prices, to them you are a rich tourist that they are quite happy to milk...

I have never seen a topless ladyboy in the street ... but then we don't hang about the Bangla Road or the sleazy bar areas. I have never seen a ping pong show nor do I ever want to... but if you do go, don't forget your bat lol.

There were lots of ladyboys on the main beach when we went in December. Couldn't really miss it- offering massage.

Thanks again to everyone who has posted, we are staying in the Seaview hotel which is right at one end of the beach, my daughter already knows what a lady-boy is. As for being cheap, i done 3 weeks in Florida last year in a 3 bedroom Villa inc car hire and park tickets for less than this holiday is costing. So im certainly not going because its cheap, i have done cheap holidays before and if this holiday is half as good as them then i will have a great time, just because a holiday might be what you think is cheap, it doesnt mean it wont be good, a family holiday is what you make it and im yet to have a bad one. I hope that continues. We are a broad minded family and i will go with my eyes open.

    Thanks again

    Jeez why??
There was a show recently with Lady boys up here and it was talked about by friends and my daughter asked the question so she got told the answer, she is getting sex education at school and is well aware of what bits men and ladies are meant to have.

Phi Phi is THE place though....and trust me I have been all over.

    Meh.

Plenty of tropical islands out there, plenty less spoiled and avaricious than Ko Phi Phi too....

Phi Phi is a spectacular island and an interesting place to stop off on a tour for a couple of hours but I'm not sure I'd want to spend a few days there. Just a shame it was redeveloped with more thought post-Tsunami.
