retrieving old income tax details

hi there,
im trying to get hold of my old income tax records from inland revenue dating back to 1993..are the inland revenue able to go back this far as i have been told that they can only go back 6 years...
can any one advise me on this and do you have an address/phone number to get my records..

Can I just ask exactly what it is you're after from HMRC?

They don't give refunds of overpayments more than 6 years old, or (usually) pursue underpayments more than 6 years old (I don't want to be dogmatic about them pursuing underpayments!)

I would not expect them to be able to provide a P60 or P45 for any period: your employer submits information to HMRC but it's up to you to take care of it!

I take it you've lost your old bank statements as well (or have disposed of them?). The only way you will be able to prove income back that far is by documents that you have already in your possession. No one else will have held the documents for that long unfortunately.
