Re: proof of income

Hi all.. I have so called outstanding csa arrears that are over 15 years old, the thing is this was based on IMA assessments back in the early 90,'s...I need this converted but do not have any tax returns evidence or proof of income for the early 90's..I have been advised that I can get copies of national insurance contributions for that time...would this be enough detail for csa to convert an ima assessment?? Anycadvice welcome.thanks

it would only work out the NI contributions that are payable to the DWP but the csa should be able to work out roughly the tax applicable to that payment although the NI tables are a broader spectrum.
  • Thanks for your reply!!..I thought they would be able to work out my level of income based on NI contributions as I don't have any records of income during that time

Have you tried the inland revenue?
  • yes have phoned to see if ican get backdated p60's but they say they can only go back 6 years...not sure what else i could ask them for
  • More to the point, how can the CSA set a total owed if neither you or them have the correct figures?

if it only goes back 6 years and the CSA have set an IMA, how do you go about proving they are wrong with their assessment?

I was led to believe that CSA can only collect arrears from 2000, so if arrears are from 1990's, they are not currently enforced/collected?

But others please help. just sure I read this somewhere
  • Hi blimey40..thanks got your reply, iv also asked for breakdown as to how they came up with the figures..am still waiting for that..seems like csa have just made the amount I owe up..I'm just as confused but they are now looking into trying to convert it, the only details I can get hold of now are NI contributions, to get an idea of the level of income I was on back in the 90's.. As for the 6 year rule bdt1...does this still exist?? As iv heard a lot of contradictory info on this...
