Yes, if your Sky line is already LLU'd you will have to go back to BT for a free 'return to donor', this involves taking 12m line rental with them.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • It shouldn't be a problem to switch, however as macman says some people with what are called LLU lines (actually, MPF lines: which is to say that the other end of your phone line is split in to two both parts of which connect to Sky's equipment) can face some difficulties in migrating. It depends on who you go with and you can only ask.

If you do have Sky LLU ("unlimited") and you migrate to Tesco you may see a speed drop of up to 40% depending on precisely what equipment is available at that exchange. To check: try putting your phone number in here:

If it says it isn't a valid number, use your postcode. Then you're interested in the LLU xDSL link. If you come back and paste in the list you get back then people can see what's available to you. Also take note of whether Cable and FTTC are available to you too, and also paste the first screen of data which I think is the one which estimates speeds.

    * Remove your phone number from any results you paste in here! *

Tesco Phone Prices go up soon and if you value caller display they charge £1.79 a month for it.
