EasyJet online check in

I confess to being rather confuzzled about online check in with EJ and just want to make sure I do it OK. I went into the bookings and couldn't see an online check in button, the only options were 'check flight status' and 'print boarding pass' so I printed all the boarding passes.

But does this count as checking in? BMI Baby has an actual 'check in' button but EJ doesn't - so how do they know that you've checked in?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks,

If you have printed the boarding cards (complete with bar codes) then you have checked-in.

Many thanks indeed for your very prompt advice. I must sound so dense, but by bar codes do you mean the black squiggly bits with vertical black lines either side in the top right hand corner above the booking reference?

Sorry mumof2 - don't think I have the answer for you here.. but I am also 'confused dot' as I have just booked another flight - I usually print off the BOOKING CONFIRMATION - as you describe.

I think a BOARDING CARD is only available within 60 days before departure date. I am not sure if it is a REQUIREMENT with 'standard' (i.e non speedy boarding) flights, I just keep printing it out and presenting myself to the check in desk in the main departures hall.
I refuse to pay for any extras over and above what I am already paying!

Although, the last time I went to check in, the que was over an hour long and if one had turned up 'within 40 mins of flight time' as they stipulate - I would have missed my flight. (Luckily ;) lol! I am one of those who turns up 2 or 3 hours early.)

Let us know if you get an answer on above...

PS - I know with Ryan Air you HAVE TO PRINT YOUR BOARDING CARD - othewise they will charge you extra at the airport.

    Not sure about BMI

Many thanks, Susan. We're travelling shortly and I'm now sure that printing out the boarding cards for all of us actually constitutes "check in".

Yes, the bar code is a mess of black on the top right of the page.
You should also see the passenger's name and details of the flight on the page.

Don't worry if you have got it wrong. Easyjet will issue boarding cards at the airport free. They are not like Ryanair, who charge £40 if you turn up at the airport without a boarding card.

    Check your printer !!!
Make sure its not a "mass of black" on the page. ie no smudges on the bar code, as many airport securities scan the bar code. If its not readable, you may be sent back to check in for reprinting.
In Ryanairs case this is a healthy wack. It may also effect you getting to the boarding gate on time.
