iphone 4 or SE Experia Arc

Exactly as it says on the tin!

I love the new iphone4, but I don't like the idea of being tied to Apple everytime I want something.

I went into the O2 shop and the girl in there (who was very nice and not at all pushy) recommended the new Sony Ericsson Experia Arc. Now I have to say it does seem to do everything that the iphone does, apart from itunes, but I can live with that, I can still get music ono it.

My friend has just upgraded with O2, she got th iphone for £100, £35 month and 500 mb internet, so I could possibly get this too, however, the Arc is £35 per month, free phone with the same internet.

The BIGGES plus on the Arc is the camera which is an 8mp, which after having an LG Viewty for the last 18 months, is a must have.

I just wondered what other peoples thoughts are on this?

Erm, I don't know, is it?? My LG phone died the other day (touch screen is kna**ered and I am trying desperately to get everything off it - shop says its water damage, but its not got wet!!) so I am using my daughters old LG Cookie - which is SH*T!! so I desperately want a phone ASAP!! When do these new phones come out?

I knew that they were bringing out a new iphone, but what is the SE Duo and when does that come out?

What I'm saying is that if you want an iphone4 then just get one, if you keep looking over your shoulder there is obviously going to be something 'better' on it's way, so you get the SE ARC instead of the ip4 and save £100 over 2yrs, its like £1 per week, between now and xmas there are new handsets coming out all the time, looking at the posts here though, getting an iphone may leave you susceptible to iphone syndrome where , you lose the phone just before a new model is launched or you leave it on the dash of a taxi or you go abroad and get a mortgage of a phone bill when you return or feel the need to tell everybody you pass that you have an iphone etc etc :rotfl:
The ip4 is a good form factor, the ios5 is what was missing from the iphone but that said the reviews suggest it is very android like,
if you can wait until september then wait, but if you cannot, I would think very carefully about committing to a 24 month term :eek:

I'm not really big on what is missing from the i4 to be honest! i dont have a clue about what is on them, let alone what isnt on them!

I just didnt want to get an i4, then discover that I am a slave to Apple. I have read some reviews about the SE Arc and it looks really good. My contract doesnt actually run out until August 25, so I cant get one yet anyway. I wont be able to afford to pay the fee they will charge for having the phone on a tarriff I can afford anyway, so I think the i5 is out unless I wait until after Christmas!

I just want a GOOD phone, with a good camera that is going to last me 2 years.

I got the ipod in september but all it did was make me like my SE Satio even more



the wildfire I got a few weeks ago makes me sort of regret the ipod purchase , beware cameras are not just about megapixels , it s the lens, camera wise the SE maybe the better bet, music wise the SE comes with nice software that allows music transfer more of a doddle than itunes, plus the gracenote seems to find the artwork more often :cool: the only positives for the ipod is the audio dock and the british gas app, everything else so far is available on android and have a look here http://pocketnow.com/android/is-this-the-sony-ericsson-xperia-duo-its-first-dual-core also the SE Ray maybe worth a look in :cool:

Although the iphone is good, I am leaning more and more towards a different android phone. Guess I will just have to see what is around in August when I am ready to upgrade.

Not sure if that is available in the UK, 4g in the Uk is only on trial at present. trouble with some of the new handsets is that the screens are forever getting larger
