travelling on maiden name - passport

Hi does anyone know whether I have to change my passport to my married name in order to use it for travel? eg can a passport be valid if it shows my maiden name.. I assume I'd have to ensure my flight tickets etc were in my maiden name as well or else they wouldn't match etc. thanks

I had my maiden name on my passport for a few years. Unfortunately, we booked a holiday and I booked it in my married name when I still had 3 years left on my passport. What a bother. I just changed my passport as we had to get them for the kids anyway. I wish I had remembered though, it would have given me longer to travel (because I do it so much!).
