Sorry i know this is the wrong page but could not get access to the phones forum.
I have just gone over to the dark side with Virgin Cable and my caller display no longer works, it has apparently been switched on and activated, and after 4 phone calls they now say it may be my phone. Needs to be "dual compatible"
It worked fine with BT but now doesn,t, it is a Philips CD645.
Can anyone please help as i don't want to have to buy a new phone if this one will work.
Thanks and again sorry it is on wrong page but i am going mad with this.:)

Hi, might be able to help here.
First of all dial 1765 from your VM line and let me know which colour zone you are in.
At a guess it's going to be the red zone.0 -
I'm in the Yellow zone, does this help?
Thanks:beer:Tel1968:T0 -
If you had said red then I may well have been able to explain it, but this one is a bit more complicated.
Which part of the country are you in? Reading the cable forums it appears there is now only Brighton where VM don't provide Caller ID and this should be sorted in the next couple of months.
Anyway, if you're not in Brighton then Caller ID should be working; as you say it isn't then it may be a compatibility issue with the phone.
First of all dial *#234# from your line and see if you get a spoken message saying whether caller identities will be displayed or not. You might not get anything - depends on the switch type.0 -
As far as I am aware you need to pay for this service from Nirgin.

Yes, it's about £2.05 per month.
The OP said it has been switched on so I'm guessing it's a compatibility issue. It used to be the case with some Philips handsets that you had to change a couple of settings, depending on the VM switch type for your area.0 -
The yellow zone is for loading and unloading, there is no parking in the red zone.
No prize for guessing the movie. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Incorrect..it's down to the line card in the Mux,if that hasn't been upgraded to CLI Linecards,(The Switch doesn't even come into play)then you wont get CLI.Virgin Cable phones work differently than a PSTN (BT) based one. You'll have two boxes next to each other for VM,one is the Mux for the phone & the smaller one is the DA (Distribution Amplifier) for the TV & BBand. The MUX can accomodate up to 900 subscribers per MUX,linecards are either 10 or 30 channel (subscribers or phone lines)0 -
Spike yes I hear what you are saying and dont doubt your knowledge. However, I was trying to establish that VM had actually switched the service on. Dialling that code on System X would give a message as to whether the service is active, dialing it on a DMS100 for example would just give an "code not recognised" message.
I didn't actually mean it was down to the switch type as to whether caller ID was available.0 -
