Silly Mistake

Hi, I missed a flight because I misread the ticket details in the email. I tried to rebook the flight with the travel agent and they said that I was a no show and lost all the money - is this correct?

Thanks.

You should be able to reclaim the taxes less any administration charge.

Actually depends on the type of flight ticket it was.

Yes, this is the case if it was a scheduled flight, however if a charter flight, then no.

And depending on the destination / airline, the taxes may or may not be worth claiming back.

If it was a Low Cost Carrier, you may have been able to book a one way and still use the return part of the ticket, however not usually possible with a full service scheduled ticket or charter.

Its a pity some time has lapsed, but you could plead dumb.
If your car had broke down on the way to the airport or similar, you could , depending on the t&cs of your travel insurance, claimed for "missed departure".

    Thanks for the responses guys.

Can anyone point me towards a site that has information on flight tax refunds?

The travel agent now says I can only get the flight tax refunded on the return journey instead of the whole round trip - is this correct?

Look at the website of the carrier that you had been due to fly with.
