I feel for you they have gone so far down hill they are now nothing more than your average easyjet flight.graciesmummy wrote: »The wait is driving me insane! i'm due to fly to vegas on the 14th and i just want to know if its going to happen or not!:(
I flew with them last week and they were so bad that i wish they had gone on strike for our flight.0 -
Absolutely, and you're right in just about everything you say.
But I have no time for people that strike - I take the view that if you are unhappy in your job - Get another.
Not everyone who strikes is unhappy with their jobs, they are merely standing up for what they think is right and fair. Or should everyone just put up and shut up whatever happens? I thought those days disappeared with the Victorians!0 -
hi hxdave, sorry to be dim but does this mean that if no strike dates are announced tonight then i should be ok?Graciesmummy,
critical day for you will be the 7th july. if they have not announced strike dates by then, then you should be ok (well, for OB sector anyway), as the union has to give a clear 7 days notice of any strikes.
IMHO, i believe they will not go on strike, and that it will be settled at the negotiation table. Like i say, thats my opinion and i may very well be wrong.
Hope your flight goes OK.
Regards
HXDave

Indeed, the Virgin pilots had previously had a two year pay freeze!0 -

They have to give 7 days notice of strike action, so if you fly on the 14th then as long as strike action hasn't been announced by the end of the 7th of July your outward trip won't be affected.
Talks are scheduled to end today and that the union's national executive committee (NEC) is considering their 'way forward' tomorrow, which, coincidently, is also the 7th
If strike action is taken it has to start within 28 days of the announcement of the ballot results which will be 19th July - so the NEC don't have that long to think about what their next move is.
I'm supposed to be flying on the 26th and am currently pessimistic about my plans - but this changes on an almost hourly basis!0 -
BALPA has now secured an offer from Virgin Atlantic which will be put to members in a ballot.
Details of the offer will only be shared more widely once it has been communicated to members.
BALPA General Secretary Jim McAuslan said: “pilots have never wished to inconvenience the travelling public, especially those looking forward to summer holidays. We have therefore lifted the threat of strike action. Virgin Atlantic pilots will proudly continue their role of flying passengers safely to their destinations.”
Excellent news for those of us travelling in the not too distant future

Dear xxxxx
As a valued Flying Club member we wanted to let you know the good news that the pilot pay negotiations are now concluded. As a result BALPA has withdrawn the possibility of strike action and our flying schedule remains completely unaffected.
We would like to thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to welcoming you onboard again soon.
Best regards,
