Best foreign exchange rates?

Hi,
I am off to oz soon and am ready to pick some dollars. Where do the best rates? The reason I ask is that I thought it was via online companies now, but a high street place I know gives better rates than the ones on the travel section of this site.
Can anyone give whole hearted praise to a particular company

I use these people when in my hometown as they give around the 'average' on the day. Better than post office/some travel currency bureaus. They will even match a rate if I have just seen a better one round the corner.
No commission charged, but usual 'this rate for selling, higher rate to buy back'
I reckon on 0.02% below rates (bank rates?) quoted on sites like
www.xe.com
Tip I bank with First Direct and need to send money to a European Bank Account from time to time. They give me around 0.02% less than the rate on xe too, which I still reckon is better than most.
(*NB I also pay a one off 9GBP handling charge for a SWIFT transfer - which again is better than the 25GBP standard charge from my other bank Nationwide for a non Swift transfer - sorry - can't remember the name of the type of transfer right now)
Have a great trip down under :j0 -
