i dont really need a phone line as i dont have my sky box plugged in, it seems im paying a line rental fee on X amount for a phone i dont really use, got the bill today and over 3 months there was 17 calls so can do without it. thats why i was thinking of a dongle

The only supplier that offers fixed Broadband without a phone line is Virgin Media Cable.

3 is OK in Hull. I would go on their ONE plan which gives you truly unlimited data, 2000 X network minutes and 5000 texts for £25 and up per month. Get a mobile that you can "tether" to your computer. I have a HTC Desire which I can set up to work as a wireless access point so its like connecting to normal wifi for the internet on my laptop going through the phone.

However if you do online gaming, dongles are unusable.

i already have a 12 month contract with t mobile. i got a free htc wildfire, unlimited internet, unlimited txts and 500 mins for £10 a month so i dont think its worth getting another phone.

I don't know if I'm a bit late on this thread, but in Hull there's a new player in town:

    http://nextgenushull.co.uk/

Although I haven't signed up myself (yet), I there's a couple of people I work with who have, and they have no complaints.

The prices aren't particually spectacular, however the connection speeds are far superior to Karoo. By all accounts, the speeds you get at home (my colleague lives in West Hull - HU5), are so close to the advertised speed that it makes no difference.

There are added advantages in that you don't need a telephone line, and you aren't tied into long term contracts like Karoo seem to be pushing their customers into these days.

    Sure Broadband, but it's expensive.

    What's wrong with Karoo?

Sure Broadband is not expensive compared to Karoo, for £15 a month I get up to 20 meg download speed (my KC speed was 2.5 meg), 30 gb of usage and I dont have to have a landline anymore. This has saved me at least £15 a month compared to Kingston Communications bundle at £30 a month.

They do have a 6 month minimum contract, compared to KC's 18 month one. And whats wrong with Karoo, apart from the price people are sick of the monopoly KC have had, we cant get any special offers like sky, virgin etc.

Anyway just my opinion, plus I have to say that a friend has had it over a year with no problems. Heres the link for SureBroadband http://www.surebroadband.net/?page_id=256 and for KC and the bundle http://www.kc.co.uk/home/bundles/
