Baked ham recipe

I think you need the real sugar in the Coke, the chemical sweeteners they use in diet coke just wouldn't be as nice.0

My ham is glazing as I type. As a vegan I don't cook meat that often but push the boat out at Christmas for my family.

I cooked my ham in the slow cooker with coke for the day. The children were unsure cos I have never cooked it before and insisted in tasting it before I glazed it. They LOVED the small slivers they were allowed and have now got to find a place to hide it so that it lasts till Christmas night:oTrue wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Dollydaydream 20060 -
I baked my ham this afternoon and glazed with port and redcurrant jellly ...a few chunks from it are missing as we all dived in for a taste

I popped the skin back in the oven on a baking tray cut up and a bowl of pork scratchinga was enjoyed while we cleared up.
And for tea tonight we had Lentil and Ham soup. :TNot in debt at the moment, but been there in the past and realise I'm the kind of person who could easily fall back into it with the self destructing spending button so making sure I keep on top of being a good girl.

Thanks to everyone - am tempted to try the cherry coke in slow cooker - off tommorrow to buy the coke. Like the idea of a mixed spice and brown sugar/maple glaze.0

I cook mine in pineapple juice on the stove slowly for about 2 hours.0

I put my ham on around 11pm last night and left it on low. It's still on as I thought it should be left for around 8-10 hours. There was hardly any fat on any of the gammon's in Sainsbury's so I won't have any to slice off. I am just going to stick the cloves in after making slight scoring of a diamond shape. Shall leave to cool and then do the glaze later on today. I am presuming I'm on the right wave length as everyone else but if not it's too late now! Thanks for all the suggestions everyone - I'll let you know what it tastes like!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all! Have fun:j .

Took ham out at 9am. It is now sitting in the coke sauce. Hopefully this is right? It looks fine though.0 -

I keep seeing about using the coke but I went in the fridge last night and saw the bottle of Dandelion and Burdock...I wonder if that would work to? Anyone tried it?Not in debt at the moment, but been there in the past and realise I'm the kind of person who could easily fall back into it with the self destructing spending button so making sure I keep on top of being a good girl.

I have done the coke one before and its lovely but this year have got it in slo cooker with boiling water and some orange juice. Will leave it all day then as others have said will glaze it with honey mustard and sugar mixed together and cloves.
We will have it with the turkey for lunch tomorrow, then with bubble and squeak for boxing day lunch (almost forget also have it with poached eggs bxing day morning).
I love it after Xmas when can just go to the fridge and carve chunks off it and eat it on its own.0
