I don't have a standard recipe. I cook mine in the slow cooker. One ham, drizzle honey over. Add just over a pint of water to the stock pot (so that there is about an inch of liquid). Pop on the lid and cook on low all day. Absolutely gorgeous.
I'm sure someone will come along shortly and give you a recipe for a standard oven.Enjoying an MSE OS life

Have you ever tried Nigella Lawson's Ham in Coca-Cola? We'll be having this cold on boxing day. It tastes fab :j
Recipe here
Basically the ham is boiled in full sugar Coke and then glazed with the syrup, dotted with cloves (or gloves as I originbally typed
), brown sugar and mustard and baked. I should say it doesn't actually taste of coke, just kind of peppery and sweet.
YUM!

I cook mine in cider. Boil the ham for about an hour in hot water and apples and onions studded with cloves. transfer to roasting tin and pour over 1/2 to 3/4 tin cider (drink the rest!!!). Cook in oven for 30mins per lb weight. Baste continually. Remove from oven half an hour before done and score skin into diamonds. Press a clove into each diamond and spread honey over the top (sprinkling brown sugar is optional at this stage). return to oven. Sit back and enjoy the delicious smells....mmmmmmm!!0

Well if I was you I would, but then I'm a big fan of Ham in Coke. Actually if anything I think it would be nicer than plain ham in coke.
*makes note to by smoked ham for Boxing Day*

I've never cooked a ham before but thought this year I would for Boxing Day as I have 20 people in total. I hasten to add I haven't as yet bought it! The coke recipe looks brilliant and the comments make it sound even better so I am going to try that one.
Now my question is if I was to cook it today or tomorrow I am presuming that would be fine for Boxing Day??
EDIT:
I'm going to cook it in the slow cooker and hopefully tht will be fine???0 -

I'm cooking mine today - in Coke as per Nigella - it works just as well with Green or Smoked - the only difficult bit is getting the darn thing in my biggest pot - which is 15" dia!
Happy munching over the festive season all!

Another vote here for the Nigella in Coke version! It's absolutely gorgeous, and that's what I'll be doing for Boxing day...
I did see one in her latest book for ham cooked in cherry coke, but I think that's a step too far for me!

Not sure about the 'coke' version, but if you boil your ham in water/cider with onions etc don't forget that you end up with the best stock for soup! Our favoutite with ham stock is leek and potato.
If you are just boiling your ham, cook it for about 15mins less than you calculated, let the meat cool down in the stock and keep the ham in the stock. It remains incredibly moist.
Happy Christmas

After boiling the ham, let it cool a bit then strip off the skin leaving as much fat as possible. Rub with a mixture of mustard and honey or brown sugar or marmalade. Then score the fat ina diamond pattern and stud with cloves. Bake for 30 mins. Serve hot or cold.0
