    other option is not just to turn up alone expecting to just jump right in. its best for a group of you to turn up. sit at your own table and force yourself not to talk but to use sign language.

    and just chat amungst yourselves.. sooner or later the regulars will approach you to begin socialising..

    like i said dont go to a pub expecting everyone to buy you a pint and tell you everything about themselves or let you listen to their private conversations straight away.

    take it slow. form your own table of friends and then slowly introduce yourself to others.

    but id day start off with forcing yourself to not talk all day and if you can hear put your ipod in ur ears on full blast so u cant hear the world around you. and that will help you to learn quicker.

    alot of people learn quicker when they need to do it, rather then just choose to do it.

    so just meet up with friends/other people in learning group at a park or a loud nightclub and just chat with ur hands

    another tip when learning sign language is to remember that hands dont have a tone of voice. so its not just about the shape the hand forms.. but also the speed of the movements and also the persons facial expression you have to look at too.

    just like on this site i have said some tough love comments which got taken out of context and made to seem near on words of hatred. simply because i did not put a smiley face at the end to innform readers it was meant in tough love.

    so sign language is deeper then you think when learning. so if you see a sign that might not be positive dont take it out of context until you know its meaning.

    Eg.. a police officer could be either calling you a masturbator.. or telling you to put your seatbelt on. if you imagine what i mean, then itll become obvious.. lol

    so have fun learning the wonders of sign lannguage.

    it works well as a social thing in a night club. with the loud music where you cant hear a thing, being able to talk and have conversations feels great.

    and lastly if you do go back to club. dont let the first signs you do translate to "i learn, teach me?"(bad vocab, grammar and sounding like a demand and not a greeting)

    let it be
    "drinks anyone, im paying"

    buying them a pint and introducing self after you hand them a pint will get you much further.

    try an afternoon with the others away from the club first. dont be trying to rush into deaf social group straight off, form your own social group out of lessons first then bring them along to the club and just "chatter" amungst selves. treat it like a social event not a homework assignment.
