Hello all,
Ive given up trying to find any answers on their website.
I am currently with BT but have a feeling i have a good 8 ish months left with them as i only recently ( feb/march?) renewed our phone line.
I have found a much better deal with TALK TALK
What penalties will i inccur if i leave them?

The main one will be being a Talk Talk customer!
As a general rule, you get what you pay for.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Are they bad?
I think i am paying around £31 a month for free eve calls and weekend calls with a landline and a broadband phone + 10GB broadband
I think thats ££0 -

Can say from experience that TT are only poor when you actually have a problem - I've been with them for 3 years and on the couple of occasions I've had problems, their foreign call centres are frustrating beyond belief!
Having said that, you can find nightmare stories with every provider and if the money is important, go for it, but with your eyes wide open!
You've no bargaining power at the moment, so if you can, grin & bear it with BT, then come renewal, see if they'll give you a better deal - many have succeeded doing this.0 -
From what I've read on here, the words Talk Talk and help in the same sentence = the original oxymoron!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. I've been with TalkTalk for about 6 years for calls and 4 years for broadband and they've been fine - friends locally with other providers have had far more problems. The problems I have had have been fairly trivial and they've not been too bad resolving them - not brilliant but then no worse than other large companies. I've had more problem with some utilities customer services.
I've looked up reviews of companys/hotels/products which I've used with no problems and seen lots of negative reviews - people moan when something goes wrong but say nothing when it all goes OK.
TT are by far the best value - I've got 40GB broadband plus free off peak calls for about £19 a month including line rental, and negotiated a renewal of £3.25 a month off for 6 months on a 12 month contract, so average about £17 a month over the contact. I don't think anything can beat that.
Also they don't rip you off by charging for caller display or making you make a certain number of calls to get it free.0 -

Seems to be mostly users not knowing what they're doing!0 -
To return to the original question, if you go to the BT site and look at the T&C's. you will find the ETC's clearly displayed. You'll pay £X per month for each service (phone, broadband), still in contract, times the no. of months (in your case, 8 or 9) still to run to term.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
