Mum's Password Help

    Thanks closed, but we can't get on the laptop to do that, that is the problem, we can't get on their website, because we need this password to be able to use the laptop!

    If that makes sense.

    Yes, i am on the net, but at my own home, not my mums.

    No i haven't tried pressing enter without putting anything in, a forum member has suggested that, which i will try when i go to my mums.

    I really don't know why she has to put a password in before accessing anything at all!!!

    Worst comes to worse I would agree with closed's comment.
    On your computer find the hp manual and it should tell you the steps to restore your mother's laptop to factory settings - this is usually done through the start up so it won't be a problem that you can't log on.

    I assume your mother has nothing important in terms of documents etc. on the computer?

    I'm pretty sure that if you keep getting the password wrong in Vista it comes up with a "hint" box
    that has a one word prompt to remind you what the password is
    eg
    Hint; petname

    mine does this
